Rose Mary (Martin) Keener, 75, of Chambersburg, passed away Saturday, December 10, 2016 at Hershey Medical Center. She was born Thursday, June 26, 1941 in Chambersburg, the daughter of the late Raymond C. and Cora (Hawbaker) Martin. She was also predeceased by stepmother Helen (Boll) Martin.
Rose Mary graduated from Shippensburg High School in 1959. After her marriage to George S. Keener in 1960, they began dairy farming in Washington Co., MD. When she retired from farming, she attained employment at Eversoft Water Conditioning in Maugansville for 10 years. She was a member of Salem Ridge Community Church in Greencastle and after moving to Menno Haven she attended Chambersburg Mennonite Church. Rose Mary volunteered in numerous capacities throughout her life, most recently at Menno Haven. She was fond of antiques, family, and hosting the many visitors who frequented her home.
Rose Mary gave loving care to her husband George S. Keener, until he passed away in 2009. She is survived by, three daughters, Diane R. and (Dale) Lehman of Chambersburg, Denise R.(Bryan) Herr of Strasburg, Dorinda M. (Greg) Henesy of Hagerstown, two sons, Darwin H. (Gina) Keener of Venice FL, G. David (Joylynn) Keener of East Petersburg, thirteen grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Also surviving are five brothers, R. Galen (Gail) Martin of Shippensburg, Eugene (Nancy) Martin of Orrstown, Guy Martin of Lancaster, Dwight (Joanne) Martin of Shippensburg, Allen (Joyce) Martin of Shippensburg.
Professional services are entrusted to Dugan Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., Shippensburg. The family will receive friends on Friday, December 16 from 2:00 to 4:00 PM and from 6:00 to 8:00 PM in the Chambersburg Mennonite Church, 1800 Philadelphia Ave., Chambersburg. Interment will be in Salem Ridge Community Church Cemetery at 9:00 AM Saturday morning with Pastor Brian Emery conducting the service. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, December 17 at Chambersburg Mennonite Church with Rev. Roger I. Martin officiating.
