WAYNESBORO -- Henry H. Shockey, 70, of 15937 Hollowell Church Road, was pronounced dead at 8:49 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2003, in the emergency room of Waynesboro Hospital. Death was unexpected and attributed to a heart attack. Born June 3, 1933, in Ringgold, Md., he was a son of the late Ralph and Mildred Pittman Shockey. He lived his early life in the Ringgold area. A member of Welty Church of the Brethren, Smithsburg, Md., he served as the church treasurer and deacon and was presently serving on the church board and was past chairman of the board. Mr. Shockey graduated from Smithsburg High School in 1952. He and his wife, Hazel B. Berrey Shockey, were married on Aug. 4, 1957, in Hagerstown, MD. They moved to the present residence in 1991. Prior to the military, he worked for Landis Tool Co., Waynesboro, in the stock room. Following his discharge from the military, he returned to Landis, and prior to retiring after 43 years of service, he worked in the purchasing department. Served U.S. Army (Korean conflict). Member of Appalachian Gold Classic Car Club, he enjoyed having and working on classic cars. Surviving are: wife, Hazel; daughter, Cindy Martin of Waynesboro; son, Michael of Waynesboro; and three grandchildren. Preceded in death: grandson, Kenneth Shockey, who died Dec. 3, 2003; brother, Leroy; infant sister, Cora Shockey.
