Orpha Books Templin, 94, of the Lebanon Valley Home, 550 E. Main Street, Annville died Thursday, March 25, 2010 in the home. She was the wife of the late James E. Templin, Sr. to whom she married on August 30, 1940 and who died in 2006.
Born in Cleona on June 13, 1915, she was the daughter of the late Theron M. and Katie Brandt Books. She attended Lebanon Business College and was employed for more than 50 years by Russell Stine and the Lebanon Screw Company. She was a member of Fairland Brethren Christ Church, Cleona where she had been active in the Choir, Sunday School, and the Sewing Circle. Orpha was also a life member of the Good Samaritan Hospital Auxiliary and active volunteer since 1960 and in 2004, she received recognition from Good Samaritan Health Services for 9000 hours of volunteerism. She was also a volunteer at Messiah Village, 25 years for the RSVP Program, and volunteered for 500 hours for the American Red Cross during WW II folding surgical dressings. Her and her husband attended many coins shows together.
She is survived by a son James E., Jr. and wife Joanne Tice Templin of Lancaster, two grandchildren Joel Michael Templin, and Janessa Jo Templin. She was the last of her immediate family. She was preceded in death by two brothers Theodore and Ethan Books, a sister Olive Hostetter, and two infant sisters.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 10:30 AM from the Kreamer Funeral Home and Crematory, 618 E. Main Street, Annville. Interment will be held in Fairland Brethren in Christ Cemetery, Cleona. Viewing will be held on Monday evening from 6-8 PM and also on Tuesday from 9:30-10:30 AM at the funeral home.
