"Jacob Jeske, who had been taken to the Ritzville hospital during the week end, following a stroke, died there on Wednesday morning. Mr Jeske was born in New Elft, Russia, July 26, 1867, and lacked just one month of being 79 years old. He was married Dec 14, 1890 to Dorothy Gunther, who died April 28, 1915. He was remarried April 29, 1917, to Maria Roloff. Mr Jeske came to America in July 1901, and operated a carpenter shop for several years at Odessa..." (Odessa Record: 6-27-1946)
"Funeral services for Jacob Jeske, 78, were held from the United Congregational church on Sunday afternoon, the Rev A Hausauer officiating. Music was furnished by the male quartet. Burial was in the Odessa Cemetery, under the direction of the Strate Funeral Home. Jacob Jeske was born in Russia, where he was married in 1890 to Dorothey Gunther, and came to America in 1901, to locate at Odessa. Mrs Jeske died in 1915, and in 1917 he remarried, to Mrs Marie Roloff. He conducted a carpenter shop until old age caused him to retire. Pall bearers were Jacob Schauerman, Wentel Weber, Con H Eckhardt, Henry Walter, Jacob Maier and Conrad Gies. Survivors include the widow, two daughters, Mrs August Giese, Odessa, and Mrs Matilda Fitz, Lind; two sons, Henry and Daniel, of the Peshastin area, 18 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Step children surviving include Mrs Rosie Lobe, Olympia; Mrs Bertha Schauerman, Odessa; Mrs Helen Brost and Mrs Hulda Sloan, Montana; Miss Tina Roloff, Olympia; Vernard Roloff, Olympia; Richard Roloff, Odessa, and Leonard Roloff, Spokane."
