Allen Kellogg, 75 of St. Lawrence, SD passed away on Sunday, November 11, 2012 at home in his sleep. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, November 16 at the St. Lawrence Community Church. Burial will be at the St. Lawrence Cemetery.
Allen Eugene Kellogg was born February 12, 1937 in Burke, South Dakota, the son of Francis and Mildred (Osnes) Kellogg. He attended a country grade school and graduated from Burke High School. He began his walk with the Lord in March 1956. He married JoAnn McElroy on April 21, 1956.
They worked on a couple of ranches West River before attending Bible School at Briercrest Bible Institute, Saskatchewan, Canada. During the summers they taught in several Daily Vacation Bible Schools and worked at Victory Center Bible Camp in the Black Hills and then at Fort Pierre. He taught grade school for two years at Mondamin, they went to Alaska for a year as house parents working for Lazy Mountain Children Home, after returning to SD, he taught for four years at Alden School.
Allen loved to farm and they purchased the Artie Grimm farm in 1970. His dad would say, "You can take the boy out of the country, but you can't take the country out of the boy."
He was a member of the St Lawrence Community Church. Over the years he has taught Sunday School, served on the church board, the boards of the Victory Center Bible Camp, Farm Credit and on the Advisory Board at Sunshine Bible Academy. In 2006 they went on a missionary trip to Guatemala.
He is survived by his wife, JoAnn, daughter, Cindy (Wayne) Goodrich of Andover, MN; son, Kevin (Sandy) of St. Lawrence; sister, Beverly (Jerry) Mackey of Blaine, MN and brother Donald (Carol) of Dallas, TX; six grandchildren, Jennifer (Adam) Putnam, Joseph (Annie) Huber, Travis and Tyler Goodrich, Jaden Kellogg and Trent Goodrich.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Ernest LeRoy.
