Baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. After he received his formal education in the Odessa school system, he worked for Henry Uhrich in the trucking business until he entered the US Army in 1941. After serving at Pearl Harbor four years, he returned to work for the state Highway Department, a job he maintained until his retirement. He was then employed by the Odessa School District. He was a member of the Odessa Gun Club and of Eagles Aerie No 3338. Preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers, 2 sisters. Survived by his wife Ann, 2 sons, 2 daughters, 3 brothers, 2 sisters, 9 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives. Funeral service Zion Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Interment followed at the Odessa Cemetery. ref: Odessa Record 20 Apr 1989
