Bernard Fandrich, 87, Jamestown, died Tuesday, Nov. 10, 2009, at Hi-Acres Manor Nursing Home, Jamestown.
Mr. Fandrich was born Sept. 25, 1922, near Burnstad, N.D., the son of John and Lydia (Pritzkau) Fandrich. He grew up and attended school in Burnstad, northwest of Wishek, N.D. He worked as a farmer. He married Esther Diegel on June 22, 1947, in Wishek. He moved to Kulm, N.D., where he worked for Farmers Union for 25 years. They moved to Jamestown in 1992. He was a member of the Kulm Fire Department, Germans from Russia and Zion Lutheran Church, Kulm, where he served on the church council. He was currently a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Jamestown. He enjoyed woodworking.
He is survived by his wife, Jamestown; four sons, James (Mary Louise), Roseville, Minn., Jeff (Heidi), Marion, N.D., Mark (Kara), Plymouth, Minn., and Perry, Fairview, Ore.; one brother, John (Vangie), Fargo, N.D.; three sisters, Agnes Wheatley, Opelika, Ala., Marcella Rudolph, Oakdale, Calif., and Judy (Jerry) Skoglund, Sonora, Calif.; 12 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Stanley; a half-brother, Ronald Pritzkau; and a step-mother, Rose (Fiest) Fandrich.
Memorial service: 2 p.m., Saturday, Immanuel Lutheran Church, Jamestown, with the Rev. Nels Lillejord officiating. Arrangements by Eddy Funeral Home, Jamestown.
Burial: at a later date in Kulm Cemetery, Kulm.
