TEMPLE HILL, Iowa -- Elmer F. Peiffer, 66, of 3828 202nd St., Temple Hill, (Cascade), died Wednesday, Feb. 24, 2010, at his home in Temple Hill.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 27, at St. Peter's Catholic Church, Temple Hill, with the Rev. Douglas Loecke officiating. Burial will be in St. Peter's Cemetery, Temple Hill. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. today at Reiff Funeral Home, Cascade, where there will be a wake service at 4 p.m. and a Knights of Columbus rosary will be recited at 7 p.m.
He was born on Oct. 28, 1943, in Monticello, son of Henry and Adeline (Koob) Peiffer. He received his education in the former St. Peter's School in Temple Hill.
Elmer farmed in the Temple Hill area and also did fencing.
He was a member of St. Peter's Parish in Temple Hill and the Cascade Knights of Columbus-Council 930, and was a former member of the Temple Hill Tug-O-War team.
Elmer was an avid Tractor Puller and card player. He loved the old thrashers' reunion in Miles.
Surviving are a sister, Eileen (Dave) Steffen, of Cascade; a brother, Paul (Barb) Peiffer, of Cascade; seven nieces and nephews, Madonna (Greg) Staner, of Cascade, Michelle (Keith) Flint, of Marion, Melissa (Jeremy) Miller, Mike (Naomi) Steffen and Jennifer (Matthew) Long, all of Cascade, Marie (Adam) Zirkelbach, of Monticello, and Mary Kay Peiffer, of Cascade; and seven great-nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Vincent Peiffer.
