Funeral services for Darlene Guthmiller, 85, Aberdeen will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, November 27, 2015, at Spitzer-Miller Funeral Home with Pastor Marcia Sylvester officiating. Burial at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Aberdeen. Darlene died Monday, November 23 at her home in Aberdeen.
Darlene B. Guthmiller, the daughter of William and Maggie (Rohrbach) Naasz, was born at Java, SD, on September 15, 1930. As a small child the family moved to Hosmer, SD, and later to Roscoe, SD. She moved to Aberdeen in 1945, where she worked at Virginia Café and later Gambles until 1953. On July 10, 1951, Darlene married John Guthmiller at Redfield, SD. They made their home in Aberdeen, where she later provided home daycare for several years.
Darlene was a member of Zion Lutheran Church. She was a great German cook. Darlene loved Western Music and watching the Minnesota Twins. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She liked traveling to Minnesota to visit family and driving around.
Grateful for having shared Darlene’s life are her husband, John Guthmiller; her daughter, Deb (Rick) Sayler; two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; five siblings: Lou (Pierre) Rousseau, LaVerne Harris, Howard (Teresa) Naasz, Gerry Naasz, and Bill (Denise) Naasz.
Preceding her in death are her parents, William and Maggie Naasz.
