A funeral service for Almont Kisse, 80, of Dickinson, will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, October 3, 2013 at St. John Lutheran Church in Dickinson with Pastor Cal Oraw officiating. Burial will follow in the Halliday Cemetery.
Almont passed away Sunday, September 29, 2013 at St. Benedict's Health Center in Dickinson.
Almont was born December 2, 1932 in Halliday, ND, the son of Daniel and Annetta (Lubke) Kisse. While growing up, he attended school in Halliday and graduated in 1950. He received his teaching certificate from Dickinson State Teachers College. Almont taught one year in a country school near Dickinson. He was married to Wanda Day in Moffit, ND. To this union, five children were born: Kyle, Lauren, Gary, DeLane and Ian. Together the family made their home in the Halliday area. Almont purchased and operated the Halliday Frozen Food Locker until 1975. He then moved to Dickinson and continued to be involved in the meat cutting business. Almont later moved to Fargo and worked for Cashwise Food, cutting meat until he retired in 2005. He has since made Dickinson his home. Almont enjoyed singing, traveling, playing cards and watching baseball. He loved to be around his family and being at family gatherings.
Almont was a member of St. John Lutheran Church.
Almont is survived by his children, Kyle (Kathy Sutton) of East Helena, MT, Lauren (Quincey) Cook of Boise, ID, Gary (Donna) Kisse of Fargo; DeLane (Robert) Estes of Prattville, AL, and Ian (Tom) Worthington of Gillette, WY; special friend, Ann Eberts of Dickinson; brothers, Wilford Kisse of Mandan, Duane (Sherry) Kisse of Colorado City, CO, and John (Elena) Kisse of Bismarck; sisters, Wilma (George) Weidrich of Bismarck, Deloris (Joe) Bogers of Buffalo, WY, and Elda (Howard) Johnson of Washburn; eight grandchildren: Jayson and Jeremy Cook, Christopher and Erica Kisse, Kelle Strankman, Joshua Armstrong, Kayla and Jessica Elkins; six great-grandchildren: Hannah, Logan, Jourdyn, Taylor, Hunter and Addyson.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister-in-law, Joyce Kisse; and nephew, Lane Johnson.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to Pancreatic Cancer Research (pancan.org), St. Benedict's Health Center or Heartland Hospice.
