Lincoln, NE, resident James A. Hust, 70, passed away in his home on August 13, 2015, surrounded by his family. Jim was born in Sutton, NE, to Rufus E. and Dorothy L. (Wedeking) Hust on July 19, 1945. He graduated from Sutton High School in 1963 and attended the University of Nebraska- Lincoln. On May 27, 1967, he was united in marriage to Patricia Marie Dvorak in Lincoln, NE. Two daughters were born of this union: Teresa Jo and Jennifer Lynne. The family moved several times: Grand Island, NE; Marion, IA; DeWitt, IA; and Brainard, NE; before moving back to Sutton in 1983, to raise their children in Jim's hometown. He was actively involved in coaching youth basketball, assisting with -H horse projects and was on the Sutton school board for many years. Jim and Patti moved to Lincoln in 1992, where he became an active member of Cathedral of the Risen Christ parish, serving as Acolyte, Extraordinary Minister, Light of the World Community, and the Knights of Columbus. Jim was an avid golfer, playing on two or thr e leagues most years; a homebrewer for over 20 years; and a lifelong Nebraska Football fan with season tickets beginning in 1963. Jim had a lifelong career as an insurance claims adjuster, retiring in 2012 from Battle Creek Mutual Insurance Company. He also worked part-time for the Nebraska Safety Council for 20 years as a Safety Training Option Program instructor and teen driving instructor. Jim and Patti loved to travel and celebrated retirement with international trips. At home, Jim loved tospend time with his children, grandchildren, family and friends. Survivors include his loving wife, Patti of Lincoln; daughters, Tracy (Jake) McHugh of Lincoln and Jeni (Tabatha) Durfey of Council Bluffs, IA. Grandchildren, Jay Richardson of Lincoln and Creighton Durfey and Callie Durfey of Council Bluffs, IA. Step-grandchildren include Karisa Richardson of Waverly, Charlene (Hunter) Greene of orth Platte, Tucker McHugh ofMalcolm and Landyn McHugh of Lincoln; sister, Mary Lou Moore of Bellevue; brother and sisterin- law, Dale and Pat Dvorak of Valparaiso; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and numerous friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, parents-in-law, Woodrow and Evelyn Dvorak, sister, Reva Jean Hust Stack, nephews, Bruce and Jerry Moore, brothers-in-law, Bill Stack, Don Moore and Gale Dvorak. Mass of Christian Burial was at 10 a.m., Monday, August 17, 2015, at the Cathedral of the Risen Christ, 3500 Sheridan Blvd., Lincoln. Rosary: August 16, 2015, at 7 p.m., at Butherus, Maser and Love Funeral home, 4040 A. Street, Lincoln. Inurnment was at 3 p.m., Monday in Calvary Cemetery in Sutton.
