Wayne E. Killinger, 74, of Wolbach died Thursday, May 27, 2010, at Heritage Living Center in St. Paul. Wayne was born Feb. 27, 1936, at Fullerton to Earl and Norma (Zimmerle) Killinger.
He was united in marriage to Sue Barr on Nov. 26, 1955, at St. Paul.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Connie Killinger.
Survivors are: his wife, Sue of Wolbach; his children and their spouses, Steven Killinger and friend, Jolene, and Kevin Killinger, Cindy and Jason Brummund, all of St. Paul, Alan and Jeanine Killinger, Kurt Killinger, and Dan and Tami Schumacher, all of Wolbach, Larry Killinger of Grand Island; 10 grandchildren, one great-grandchild, four stepgrandchildren and six stepgreat-grandchildren; brothers and sisters-in-law, Jerry and Colleen Killinger, Gene and Val Killinger, all of St. Paul and Dan Killinger of Omaha and a host of friends and relatives.
They lived on the family farm northeast of Wolbach. He attended grade school District 27 Greeley County. After 8th grade he helped his father farm on the family farm. In 1954 he worked in Grand Island for a year. In 1960, Wayne and Sue moved from northeast of Wolbach to southeast of Wolbach and he was engaged in farming. He worked at the Cornhusker Army Ammunition Plant from 1964 to 1965. He worked for Klein Brothers Garage, Teter's Garage and drove school bus. In 1988, he retired from farming and shortly after retirement he opened Wayne Killinger Welding shop. Due to a stroke in January 1996, he retired and the couple moved into Wolbach on October 1996.
Wayne was a member of the United Methodist Church in Wolbach. He also was a member of the Hole in the Roof Muzzleloaders Club of Wolbach. He loved to hunt, fish and Blue Rock Shoot. He was a John Deer collector. And he also enjoyed watching birds.
He was also preceded in death by his parents, a brother Johnny Killinger and one great-grandson.
