LaVerne A. Hanneman, 96, of Lincoln, Nebraska, passed away peacefully at the Elizabeth House on Sunday, December 18, 2016. She was born on February 8, 1920 to Edwin and Emma (Genzlinger) Watermeier in Otoe County, Nebraska.
As an enthusiastic homemaker, she spent countless hours in the kitchen cooking and baking. She had a talent for sewing and creating many homemade gifts.
As a caregiver she helped anyone in need. Her love for babies led her into foster care and later babysitting. As an active member of St. Andrew's Lutheran Church she taught Sunday School, confirmation classes and led the little gospel choir. She created several beautiful banners for the sanctuary. Most of all she loved her family dearly, leaving behind a legacy as a caregiver and deep love for others.
She is survived by: her daughters, Connie (Leon) Peach, Kathy (Ken) Stadler, Shelly Hanneman; son, Doug (Shellie) Hanneman; daughter-in-law, Paula Hanneman; six grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; sister, Ardyth; sister-in-law, Rosie.
Preceded in death by: her parents; her husband, Bill; son, Ken; infant son; sister, Opal; and brothers, Pinky and Alvin.
Funeral Service on Friday, December 23, 2016 at St. Andrew's Lutheran Church, Lincoln. Interment in Lincoln Memorial Park.
