Funeral Services Held For Mrs. Carl Deertz -
Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon, October 12, for Mrs. Carl Deertz who passed away Sunday evening at the St. Paul hospital. She had attained the age of 78 years, 4 months and 24 days....
Emma Deertz, daughter of Minnie and Phillip Glause was born on a farm near St. Libory in Howard county on May 16, 1888. She grew to womanhood in Howard county and attended the rural school there.
On April 12, 1910 she was married to Carl Deertz at the farm home. They settled in the Palmer area where she spent the remainder of her life. She was a member of the First Church of Christ in Palmer.
Survivors include her husband; one daughter, Mrs. Irene Drawbaugh of St. Paul and one son, Alvin of Palmer, six sisters, Mrs. Pauline Needham, Mrs. Mary Deertz, Mrs. Lydia Fuehrer and Mrs. Ruth Stelk, all of Grand Island, Mrs. Ann Spilger of St. Paul and Mrs. Minnie Fechtner of Palmer; 3 brothers, George Glause of Chapman, John Glause of Grand Island and Bill Glause of St. Libory; one grandson, Carl, who attends the University in Lincoln, and a granddaughter, Rhonda Drawbaugh of St. Paul.
