He lived on a farm near Cleveland, N.D., until he was five years old, when the family moved to a farm near Gackle. He attended Gackle School and graduated from Gackle High School. He attended a business college in Fargo, N.D. He enjoyed driving school bus, tour buses and appointment driving for Gackle Care Center. He owned and operated a trucking business and farmed with his father. He married Ann Henke on Jan. 8, 1996, at Aberdeen, S.D. They lived on the farm north of Gackle. He was a member of Gackle United Church of Christ and served on the church board. He also served on the township board. He enjoyed reading, gardening, music and roundtable coffee time. He is survived by his wife; father, Gackle; a sister, Arlene Clifton, Ownings Mills, Md.; three stepdaughters, Leslie Dockter, New Rockford, N.D., Camille Weixel, Eau Claire, Wis., and Amy (Shaun) Duffield, Lutz, Fla.; two grandchildren; and special friends Chance and Harlie Wilson. He was preceded in death by his mother; a brother, Lloyd; and a brother-in-law, Ray Clifton. Services: 1 p.m. Tuesday, First United Church of Christ, Gackle, with the Rev.
