Mr. Klundt was born May 16, 1934, at Gackle, the son of John K. and Anna (Mayer) Klundt. He received his elementary education in the local rural school and grew up in the area, where he helped on the family farm. He entered the U.S. Army on Dec. 3, 1956, at Napoleon, N.D. He served in Korea and was discharged Dec. 2, 1958, at Fort Carson, Colo., with the rank of private first class. He married Marlys Meidinger on Nov. 26, 1961, in the United Church of Christ, Gackle. They lived in the Gackle area, where they raised cattle and farmed grain. In 1990 they moved into Gackle and continued to farm until they retired in 1995. He was a member of First United Church of Christ, Gackle, where he served on the church board, the American Legion Post #295 and Farmers Union Oil of Alfred. He also served as township assessor and on the ambulance squad. He is survived by his wife; two sons, Kent, New Salem, N.D., and Dean (Sarah), Willmar, Minn.; a brother, Clifford (Dolores); a sister, Eugenia, Gackle; and a grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Elroy. Services: 2 p.m. Tuesday, First United Church of Christ, Gackle, with the Rev. Gordon Moen officiating. Prayer service: 7:30 p.m. today, Haut Funeral Homes, Gackle. Visitation: 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
