James Marble Richards, 85, 406 North West Street, died at 12:50 a.m. today at the Tipton county Hospital following a three year illness. Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday at Young's Funeral Home, with Rev. James Ratcliff, minister of Kemp Methodist church, officiating. The body will lie in state at the funeral home, where friends may call after 2 p.m. Thursday.
Born July 12, 1874 in Tipton county, he was the son of James and Louisa Richards. His marriage to Annie B. Reed occurred Oct. 3, 1899. The retired carpenter was member of Kemp Methodist church and the Independent Order of Odd Fellows.
Surviving are the widow, two sons, Uhl Richards of Muncie; Don Richards, of Sharpsville, and three daughters, Mrs. Dena Hensley and Mrs. Ruth Sharp, both of Tipton; Mrs. Mary Mettlen, of Anderson. A sister, Nancy Davis of Indianapolis, six grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren also survive.
