Charles Kiehl was born in Germany, February 7, 1845 and died at Guide Rock, Neb., February 16, 1922, aged 77 years and 3 days.
He came to America with his mother and sisters in 1865 and settled in Cook Co., Illinois. He was married to Hannah Karnatz at Blue Island, Ill., in 1871. In 1880 they came to Jewell county, Kansas, where they homesteaded near the northern boundary and lived there until 10 years ago when they moved to Guide Rock.
Twelve children were born to Mr and Mrs Kiehl, six of them dying in infancy. He leaves the faithful wife and six children, William C and Louis of Guide Rock, Ernest Kiehl and Mrs Minnie Roberson of northern Jewell county, Kansas, Arthur Kiehl and Mrs Lulu Caldwell of Burr Oak. Also 16 grandchildren.
Mr Kiehl was converted early in life and had great faith in God. He was loved by his family and held in high esteem by all who knew him for his quiet and retiring nature.
Funeral services were held at the Christian church, Guide Rock, conducted by the German Evangelical minister, Saturday morning and burial was made in the Burr Oak cemetery
