Guide Rock resident Bill E Sholtz, 64, died Wednesday, April 2, 2003 at Franklin County Hospital in Franklin.
Services are 11 a.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church in Guide Rock with the Rev Leslie Warner officiating. Burial will be in Guide Rock Cemetery, Simonson-Williams Funeral Home of Red Cloud is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Sholtz was born April 10, 1938 to George L. and Ellen M. (Kulek) Sholtz at Guide Rock. He graduated from Guide Rock High School in 1955 and completed his education at DeVry Technical Institute, On Oct 18, 1959, he married Barbara A Kottmeyer. They lived in Guide Rock where he owned and operated Bill Sholtz TV and Appliance for more that 40 years.
He was a member of Guide Rock First Baptist Church, serving as deacon and trustee and American Baptist Men. He also was a member of Guide Rock Town Board, Guide Rock Lions Club, Nebraska Muzzleloaders Association, Republican Valley Shooters' Associating and Kountry Kousin Squaredancers. He was a former Boy Scout leader and past chairman of Guide Rock Area Development Committee.
Survivors are his wife; two daughters, Darcie Porter of Orleans and Delcie Garvin of Hastings; two sisters, Shirley Gleason of Harlingen, Texas and Kyla Ely of Brentwood, Tenn.; four grandchildren and one stepgrandchild.
