Mrs Nels Peterson was born in Hagnarp Norra Akarp Forsawling Kristianstad Lau Province Skane, Sweden, September 16, 1850 and passed away at Ong, Nebraska early Wednesday morning, November 29, 1933 at the age of 83 years, 2 month and 13 days.
In the spring of 1875 she arrived in America staying with her sister, Mrs Alfred Benson at Fairmont, Nebraska for almost two years.
She was married to Nels Peterson of Clay County, Nebraska at Fairmont, Nebraska, December 22, 1876. To this union four children were born, one son, who died in infancy and three daughters, Sadie, Hulda and Edna.
The Petersons located on a homestead just north of what is now Ong where they lived until January 11, 1908 when they moved to their home in Ong.
Mrs Peterson was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith in Sweden. With her husband she was a member of the Stockholm Lutheran church, Shickley, Nebraska from the early years of it's organization and remained a faithful and active member of this church until 1922 when she with her husband transferred her membership to the Gethsemane Lutheran church in Ong where she was a devoted and consecrated member at the time of her death.
Left to mourn her departure are her husband, Nels Peterson, the three daughters, Mrs Ed Beck and Mrs John Allen of Edgar and Mrs Albert Karnatz on Ong, 11 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren together with a host of relatives and many near and dear friends.
Funeral services were held Friday, December 1, 1933 from the home at 1 o'clock and from the church at 1:30. The pastor spoke on the text from Isaiah 25:8 and Rev 14:13. Special singing rendered was as follows are the home: vocal duet, "Nearer My God to Thee" by Mrs Carl Ericson and Oscar Rudd. At the church; vocal solo: "One Sweetly Solemn Thought" by Mrs Wesley Sandberg; a vocal duet; "Some Glad Sweet Day" by Mrs Ericson and Mrs Rudd and a vocal solo: "The City Four Square" by Mrs Algot Peterson. Six nephews served as pallbearers Joseph Anderson, Anton Thurin, John, August and Carl Benson and Nels Christianson.
Interment was in the Stockholm cemetery.
