From the files of Clyde C Clark
He was born 24 Feb 1832 in Eel River Twp, Greene Co, IN, a son of Thomas and Roda (Dunigan) Clark; they were natives of North Carolina. He died at the home of his daughter, Mary (Clark) Mentzer, 6 Dec 1902 and is buried in Olio Cemetery, Eureka, IL, Woodford Co, Lot A C-2 GAR stone.
He married Elizabeth Cullison in Owen Co, IN 7 Jun 1857. Elizabeth was born in Ohio, possibly a daughter of Jeremiah and Rebecca Cullison of Coshocton Co, IL. I believe she had a brother named Jacob Alfred, he found in 1860 census for Greene Co, and too a Jacob A Cullison was found in the family of Jeremiah of Ohio, his age in both census are compatible. Ira was in the 1900 census for Greene Co, in the house of Jacob's widow Cevira Cullison as a "boarder". Then twelve days later in the census in Woodford Co in the house of daughter and son-in-law.
In the obit of his son, Samuel Clark, who died in 1926, a statement to the effect that Ira took his family to Woodford Co, IL when he, Samuel, was 5 years of age; this would be about 1873, as Samuel was born 2 May 1868 in IN.
From copies of Mil Recs from Washington DC, Ira made a statement to the effect he went to Kansas in 1876: "I then in Kansas 1 Oct 1876". Would seem he and brother Jesse F and possibly Thomas P went to KS at same time. Ira and Jesse F were in census 1880 in Graham Co, Graham Twp, KS. Thomas P may have gone to Missouri to claim his intended, as he was married in Herman, MO 1878.
In between the Federal and State census 1880 and 1885 resp, Ira was found in Mitchell Co, Asherville Twp, KS in state census. Appears Jesse F and family made the move at same time, as Jesse died in Cloud Co, KS north of Glasco, KS 1892.
Ira's wife, Elizabeth Cullison, was born 10 Apr 1840 in OH; died in Mitchell Co, Asherville Twp, KS 11 Feb 1889; is buried in Cemetery at Glasco, Cloud Co, KS
