However, it fits quite well with the known information. According to the census, Elisabetha Wöhl was his second wife. As his son Peter was born in 1869 and, according to the census, Peter and Elisabetha were married in about 1872/3, it fits that son Peter was from the first marriage. The 1900 census says he was born Oct 1879 (obviously an error in year, as his age was 30 years), and this fits with the date of 23 Sep 1869 in Russian church records. David Werner was born abt 1841 in Worms, Beresan, Odessa, South Russia was the son of Johannes WERNER and Barbara STAUSS. David WERNER married Philippina NAGEL on the 10th of December 1865 in Worms, Beresan, Odessa, South Russia. This union was blessed with no less than 13 children. It was a 2 week journey. Nine of their 14 children died in Russia and the other five came to America. Michael and his family came first to Scotland, SD to their relatives (Matthew and Maria Sayler) - Matthew being a brother to Michael and Maria being a sister to Carolina. From there they went to North Dakota where they homesteaded in McLean County, 7 miles NW of Garrison, ND. Carolina Sayler died in 1905 from a broken rib which had punctured her lung. Mr. Sayler remarried, person unknown. Michael and his wife Rosa are found in the 1910 McLean County, ND Census with one child, Charles age 21 born Russia.
