Floyd E. "Curly" Ulmer, 65, Yakima, Wash., formerly of Glen Ullin and Bismarck, died April 7, 1998, in a Yakima hospital. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, rural Mandan.
Floyd was born on Dec. 9, 1932, in Glen Ullin, the son of Emanuel and Martha (Heinle) Ulmer. He was raised and educated in North Dakota. Following graduation from high school, he entered the U.S. Navy and served in the Korean Conflict.
After his discharge from the military, he returned to North Dakota. On May 22, 1955, he married Rose Marie Kostelecky, in Bismarck.
In 1962 they moved to the Yakima area, where he worked for Burtner Furniture until his retirement.
He enjoyed playing pinochle, and he will be missed by all of his friends. He was a member of William Wharton Post No. 379, Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion Moxee Post No. 162 and the Fraternal Order of the Eagles, Aerie No. 289 of Yakima.
He is survived by his wife, Rose Marie; one son Bruce A., Yakima; two daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Mel Light, and Pam and Gilbert King, all of Yakima; four grandchildren, Kristal, Kayla and Kelsy Light and Corey King; his father and stepmother, Emanuel and Helen Ulmer, New Salem, his brother and sister-in-law, Jim and Joyce Ulmer, Bismarck, and his sister and brother-in-law, Dorothy and Bob Miller, Mandan.

Col. Jeremiah Jackson in the struggle for independence, entered the American army with a captains commission, and served with credit to himself and the country through a great part of the war. He had three sons with him. While in the army he made the acquaintance of Major Asa Danforth." "Jeremiah Jackson...and his third son Jeremiah were soldiers in the Continental Army in Capt Nehemiah May's Company in Col John Bliss' Regiment, having enlisted in 1777 from South Brimfield Massachusetts, for a period of 3 years.

Marilyn Adam, 83, of rural Ravenna died Monday, October 22, 2018 at her home.
Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, October 27, 2018 at Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Ravenna. Rev. Richard Piontkowski will officiate. Burial will be in St. Wenceslaus Cemetery southeast of Ravenna. Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Friday at the church with the rosary to follow at 7:00 p.m. Rasmussen Funeral Home in Ravenna is assisting the family.
Marilyn Louise (Joyce) Adam was born May 6, 1935 near Giltner, Nebraska to Martin and Hilda (Pope) Joyce.
She attended school in Giltner and graduated from Giltner High School. She continued her education at Kearney State Teacher’s College.
She married James Adam, Jr. of Ravenna on June 18, 1959. They were married for forty years before Jim’s death in May of 2000.
Marilyn was a wonderful wife and mother, but she was more than that. She taught school for 49 years, mostly 2nd grade at Ravenna Public Schools, helped milk cows with her husband and children and other farm work on their dairy farm. She also baked and decorated cakes for over three decades.
Marilyn retired from teaching and was able to travel many miles and spend many hours attending the activities of her grandchildren. “Baking day with Grandma” became a special tradition with her grandchildren.
Survivors include 2 daughters, and 4 grandchildren, who were her pride and joy. Other survivors include 3 sisters, a special sister-in-law, along with numerous nieces, nephews, neighbors and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jim, her parents and brother, Gary Joyce.

Margaret E. Elmore, 95, of Omaha, NE, formerly of Kincaid, died at 1:00 p.m. Monday, February 23, 2004, in Omaha.
She was born July 28, 1908, in Pekin, the daughter of John and Anna Roland Zimbelman. She married Lloyd F. Elmore on June 4, 1925, in Harrisburg. He died December 15, 1957. She was a switchboard operator at the "State Journal-Register" for 15 years.
Surviving are her daughter, Betty O'Bryan of Omaha, NE; grandchildren: Lloyd F. Elmore of Le Roy, Margaret Nordstrom of Portland, OR, and Lynette Mullens of Omaha, NE; 13 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Lloyd E. Elmore; one brother; and three sisters.
Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, March 12, in Oak Hill Cemetery, with Rev. Bong-Choul Hwang officiating.
