1909, Jan 17, The Atlanta Constitution Newspaper published the following Obit for Fannie Payton: Mrs. Fannie Payton, aged 34 years, died yesterday at noon at her residence, 246 Bryan Street. She is survived by her husband, M. W. Payton, and two children. The funeral services will be held at Harry G. Poole's Chapel this morning at 7:15 o'clock. The body will be taken to Montreal, GA., former home of the deceased, for interment.

Margaret Gunderson, 91, longtime Williams County Auditor died peacefully at her Williston home on Friday December 7, 2012.
Margaret was born on March 5, 1921 in Wallingford, IA to Clarence and Eda Skattebo. She graduated from Graettinger High School in 1938 and Waldorf College in 1940. November 16, 1940, she was married to LeRoy Gunderson and raised three children, Robert, Sandra and Douglas.
In 1964, Margaret and LeRoy relocated to Williston, ND, where Margaret began work at the Williams County Auditor's office until 1991, the last 12 years, serving as County Auditor. In 1995, Margaret began work at Walmart, greeting customers for 16 years until her retirement in 2011.
Margaret was a faithful and active member of the First Lutheran Church. She enjoyed singing with the Sweet Adelines and Tuesday Soup day with her friends. Her greatest joy was spending time with family, KFC picnics with her grandchildren, and passing out hugs to all.
Grateful for having shared her life are her son, Douglas Gunderson and wife Sandy of Williston, ND; 7 grandchildren, Todd Gunderson and wife Melissa of Sioux City, IA, Marsha Ackerman of Chicago, IL, Kenny Gunderson of Sioux City, IA, Bob Gunderson and wife Lisa of Williston, ND; Jennifer Ackerman of Sioux Falls, SD, Dawn Gunderson of Williston, ND, and James Gunderson and wife Kristin of Williston, ND; six great-grandchildren; and brother, Clare Skattebo; and sisters, Carol Kropf and husband Duane, and Lenora Kropf.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Eda Skattebo; her loving husband, Leroy Gunderson; son, Robert Gunderson; daughter, Sandra Gunderson; grandson, Richard Gunderson; and brother, Ernie Skattabo.
Friends may call at the Fulkerson Funeral Home of Williston on Tuesday from 9am to 5pm and an hour prior to services at the church on Wednesday.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, December 12, 2012 in the Chapel at First Lutheran Church in Williston. Pastor Mary Mock will officiate.

Albert Schiermeister, 87, of Grants Pass died Saturday, Aug. 17, 1996, at Eugene.
Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Tuesday at Hull & Hull Funeral Directors.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Grants Pass Seventh-day Adventist Church. Interment will follow at Hawthorne Memorial Gardens.
He was born March 27, 1909, in New Leipzig, N.D. On Sept. 21, 1952, at Stevenson, Wash., he married the former Margaret Sproed. He had lived in Grants Pass for over 40 years. He worked as a self-employed logger and miner.
Schiermeister was a member of the Grants Pass Seventh-day Adventist Church.
An avid fisherman, he also enjoyed watching birds in his backyard.
In addition to his wife, survivors include a daughter, Darlene Kenzy of San Bruno, Calif.; a stepson, Donald Sproed; a sister, Anne Chase of Hebron, N.D.; a half-sister, Toby Grier of Dallas; two grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a son, Dennis Schiermeister and a grandson, Warren Kenzy.

Former Grants Pass resident Margaret I. Schiermeister, 94, of Springfield, died Wednesday, Dec. 25, 2002.
Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Hawthorne Memorial Gardens in Grants Pass.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Oregon Genealogical Society, P.O. Box 10306, Eugene, OR 97440-2306; or to the Alzheimer's Association. Major Family Funeral Home of Springfield is in charge of arrangements.
Schiermeister was born Aug. 8, 1908. In 1925, she was adopted by William D. and Orrilla M. Graham-Estelle of Falls City. She graduated from Laurelwood Academy in 1927. In June 1928, she married Joseph J. Sproed. They divorced in 1944. In 1945, she married Perry E. Goodridge. They were divorced in 1950. In 1952, she married Albert Schiermeister in Stevenson, Wash. After 44 years of marriage, he died in 1996.
Mrs. Schiermeister was a radiological technologist. She worked for nine years at Sacred Heart Hospital before moving to Grants Pass in 1954. In Grants Pass, she worked for Drs. Mikkelson, J. Boe and J. Russell, and at Josephine General Hospital. She retired in 1986 at the age of 78.
Survivors include a son, Donald G. Sproed of Eugene; two stepdaughters, Starla Hashimoto and Collette Griffith, both in California; a sister, Ila M. Estelle of Falls City; and two grandchildren.

Marjorie Oakley, 55 died Saturday morning, March 23, at Hand County Memorial Hospital in Miller.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, March 26, at First United Methodist Church with Reverend Lee Smith and Reverend Paul Babb officiating. Burial was in the G.A.R. Cemetery.
Marjorie June Fischer was born October 20, 1935, to Emanuel and Marie (Eisenbraun) Fischer in Hyde County.
She Married Richard Oakley on June 2, 1954, in the Methodist Church in Pierre. She lived all her life in the Miller area.
She is survived by her husband of Miller; four sons, Rocky, Rich, Terry and Jesse, all of Miller, and two daughters, Dawn (Oakley) Parmely of Wessington and Marcie of Miller: seven grandchildren; her mother, Marie, and stepfather, Charlie Mormon, of Arlington; two brothers, Leonard Fischer of Rapid City and Marlin Fischer of Arlington; and one sister, Mrs. Malvin (Doris) Bitterman of Huron.
She was preceded in death by her father; two brothers, Melvin and Benny Fischer; and one infant granddaughter.
Pallbearers were Darrell Chipman, Don Price, Loren Rosemore, Lonnie Fischer, Raymond Caffee and Lenny Fischer.

F. C. Brandfass, of 520 North Seventh Street, has received a message from Wheeling, announcing the death of his uncle Chas. F. Brandfass at the Ohio Valley hospital in that city on Wednesday morning as the result of a fatal injury received on September 2nd. Mr. Brandfass, who was a prominent business man and president of the Brandfass Tobacco Co., was walking from his business house to his home, 529 Main Street. He had passed Fifth Street when a boy climbed into an electric car parked at the top of the Main Street Hill and released the breaks. The car started down the hill, jumped the curb and struck Mr. Brandfass. He was removed to the hospital and died from his injuries. He was 71 years of age and leaves a wife and seven children. Mr. and Mrs. Brandfass contaminate leaving in the morning for Wheeling to attend the funeral services at his late home at 3:00 p. m. Rev. w. G. Ulfert, pastor of St. John's Protestant Evangelical Church will officiate. Interment will be mad in Greenwood Cemetery.

He married Betty A. Parker, Oct. 2, 1955, in Yuma, Ariz. They returned to South Dakota in 1958, and he ranched in the Highmore and Miller area."}

Melvin N. Fischer, 46, Ohio township, died Friday in the Veterans Hospital in Sioux Falls, where he had been for treatment for some time before his death.
Funeral rites were held at 2 o'clock Tuesday afternoon, March 15, in the Church of the Nazarene, with the Rev. David Belzer officiating. Burial was in the GAR Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Eldon Moser, Craig Wharton, Don Ames, James Purrington, Robert Moser and Gene Grabin.
Mr. Fischer was born January 11, 1931 at Highmore, the son of Mr. and Mrs. (*Marie Bertha Eisenbraun*) Emanuel Fischer. He attended school in Highmore. He served with the Marine Corps and lived in the Los Angeles area from 1952 at Yuma, Ariz. In 1958 they moved back to South Dakota and since that time had been living in the Miller-Highmore area.

The death of Emanuel Fischer, 55, occurred last Friday at Memorial hospital, to which he had been admitted only a few days before his death.
Funeral services were conducted Monday afternoon at the Presbyterian Church in Miller, the Rev. Hume Ward officiating. Pallbearers were Eldon Moser, Robert Moser, Myrle Auch, Darrell Heckenliable, Dale Oakley and Leonoard Oakley.
Mr. Fischer was born December 8, 1902, and spent his childhood near Tripp. He was married in 1926 to Marie Eisenbraun, and they were the parents of six children. He made his home at Highmore for some time, and more recently came to Miller to make his home. He was a member of the German Reform church of Highmore.
Surviving his death are two daughters, Mrs. Mel Bitterman and Mrs. Richard Oakley of Miller, and four sons, Leonard, Rapid City, Milvin, Highmore, Marlin and Bennie, Miller. Also surviving are his mother, Mrs. Andrew Fischer of Tripp, two sisters, seven brothers and ten grandchildren.

Catherine Kahrig, the widow of Louis Kahrig died Friday, February 27, 1914, with pneumonia. She was born in Bavaria, Germany in 1849, and came to this country at the age of 5 years with her parents, Mr.a and Mrs. Adam Gertler. She spent her youth on the home farm near Lewisville, Ohio. Catherine married Louis in 1879. He died August 9, 1911. Eleven children was born to them; four preceded their parents in death; surviving children are: Mrs. Philip Rhines, Fred Kahrig, Philip Kahrig, Mrs. Freda Wehr, Mrs. Gus Kilburn, Henry Kahrig and Mrs. Henry Kilburn; one brother, Adam Gertler of Ozark, Ohio; and one sister, Louisa Gertler of Beallsville, Ohio. Mrs. Kahrig was a member of the German Lutheran Church all her life. Funeral services were held at the Evangelical Church and was conducted by the Reverend E. Seybold. Interment was in the Oaklawn cemetery, Woodsfield, Ohio.

Neibch, Annie M., 91, of 45795 State Route 145, Lewisville, died September 22 (1987) at her home. She was born near Lewisville, August 19, 1896, a daughter of the late Henry and Catherine Kahrig Kilburn. She was a member of the Trinity United Church of Christ near Lewisville.
Mrs. Neibch was preceded in death by her first husband, LeRoy Claus and her second husband Edwin Neibch, along with two brothers, Charles and Homer Kilburn.
Surviving are two sons, Bernard Claus of Kent, Washington and Floyd Claus of Salem; one daughter, Elvira Stimpert of Lewisville; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Friends were received at the Waters Funeral Home, Woodsfield, September 25 where funeral services were held at 1.p.m. September with Doctor Reverend Gary Wilson of the Trinity United Church of Christ officiating. Burial followed in the Middle Church Cemetery near Lewisville. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or to the American Cancer Society.

Gustav Frederick Kilburn was born in Summit Township, Monroe County, on June 13, 1873, the son of John Henry and Marie Linge Kilburn, and departed this life at his home in Lewisville of April 16, 1955 at the age of 81 years, ten months and three days.
Through Baptism he became a member of St. John’s Evangelical and Reformed Church, and at the age of thirteen he was received through the vows of Confirmation.
On March 3, 1896 he was united in marriage with Miss Mary Kahrig by the Rev. J. R. Muller. To this union were born five children. One child, Lydia, preceded him in death in 1919.
Those who survive him are Mrs. Freeman Christman and Freeman Kilburn, of Lewisville, Route 1; William Kilburn, of Cambridge, and Mrs. Sylvia Shull of Atwater, Ohio. Also surviving are one brother, Henry Kilburn, of Lewisville, Route 1, and one sister, Mrs. Lucetta Kochart, of Woodsfield. There are also fourteen grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren.
This past March Mr. Kilburn and his wife were privileged to celebrate their fifty-ninth wedding anniversary.
His entire life was lived in this church community where he farmed with his family. It is worth noting the outstanding service he gave his community thru his church where over a period of forty years he was the custodian of this church. Because some records have been lost it is impossible to tell just exactly how many years he did serve. But those who remember his faithful devotion to his job will remember with thanksgiving the joy he found in keeping the House of the Lord spotless and clean for those who worshipped here.
Short services were held in the Bauer and Turner Funeral Chapel, Woodsfield on Tuesday afternoon at 1:30 o’clock, with additional services at 2:00 o’clock in St. John’s Evangelical and Reformed Church at Middle Church. Rev. George W. Varnes officiated. Interment in the church cemetery.
