Death came at the age of 91 years 4 months and 19 days. She was born February 2, 1898, in Holly Springs, Iowa, the daughter of Jacob and Augusta (Steinhoff) Egger. She was a lifelong member of St. John’s Evangelical Church at German City. Survivors include a sister, Lyda Egger of Hornick and a number of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Henry, Charlie, Edward and Albert; and four sisters, Rosina, Anna, Freda, and Lydia. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Friday, June 23, 1989, at St. John’s Evangelical Church, Germany City, Iowa, with Rev. Walter Enstrom officiating. The organist was Katherine Cox. Casket bearers were Chet Claus, Gary Sulsberger, Marvin Sulsberger, Bill Smith, Darrel Sulsberger, and Donald Sulsberger. Burial at the Eureka City Cemetery. Arlo died Sunday, Jan. 2, 2005. Winter Funeral Home, Buffalo Center and Spitzer Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Arlo Dennis Ackerman, son of Ernest and Rosina (Boschee) Ackerman was born July 5th, 1938, in Artas S.D. He lived on a farm where he attended “country” school. Arlo moved to Eureka where he worked as a mechanic. In May of 1961, Arlo married Beverly Carson of Iowa. They made their home in Eureka, S.D. Arlo moved back to the family farm after the death of Beverly in 1968. On June 1st, 1968, Arlo married Sandra L. Gunderson in Williston N.D. They had two daughters, Marsha (Mantock) and Jennifer. They made their home on the farm until 1997 when they moved to Aberdeen S.D. They lived in Aberdeen until the death of Sandra in 2002. Arlo continued to live in Aberdeen and was a truck driver. On July 3rd, 2004, Arlo married Glenda Kramer in Buffalo Center, Iowa, where they made their home and he worked for State Line Company. Arlo was a member of the Eureka Reformed Church, First Reformed Church of Aberdeen, and the First Reformed Church of Buffalo Center. Arlo enjoyed talking to people. Often, he would be seen at local restaurants catching up on the news of the day. He also enjoyed music and at the end of his life, one of his joys was learning how to dance. Grateful for having shared his life: his wife, Glenda Kramer; his daughters, Marsha (Todd) Mantock, Indianapolis, Ind., Jennifer Ackerman, Sioux Falls, S.D., Brenda (Bill) Worrell, Sioux City, Iowa, and Dawn (Joe) Isder, Round Lake Minn; his sister, Nancy (Willis) Schabel, Eureka S.D.; his mother-in-law Margreta Steen, Buffalo Center Iowa, and six grandchildren, Conner, Marissa, Justin, Trenton, Jessica, & Trevor. He was a member of St. John’s Evangelical Church, a past director of the Holly Springs Public School and a member of the I.O.O.F. at Hornick. Survivors include the widow; two sons, Alvin A. of Hornick and Donald D. of Smithland; two daughters, Mrs. Irene M. Smith and Mrs. Julia Baggs, both of Hornick; a brother, Charles, of Anthon; three sisters, Mrs. Pearl Steinhoff and Mrs. Lena Bryans, both of Sioux City, and Mrs. Lucy Smith of Whiting; 11 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchldren. Anna Weber was born May 20, 1868, at Lewisville, Ohio. She came with her parents to a farm near Hornick when she was 16 years of age. She was married to Charles Weber, December 30, 1890, and moved to a farm near Hornick, where she resided until 1934. Her husband Charles Weber preceded her in death in 1909. In 1934, Anna Weber went to California to make her home with her daughter, Ella. She was confirmed in the Evangelical church in Ohio and after coming to the Hornick community she joined the Evangelical Church at German City of which she remained a member. Survivors are a son, Alfred of Hornick; seven daughters, Mrs. Ella Goodsell of Costa Mesa, Calif.; Mrs. Edith Claus, of Anthon, Iowa; Mrs. Ruth Malloy of Kellogg, Iowa; Mrs. Elsie Lange of Bloomfield, Neb.; Mrs. Gertrude Persinger and Mrs. Lizzie Hanner, both of Hornick, Iowa; and Mrs. Alice Nirenberg of Costa Mesa, Calif.; a brother Charles Rose of Gillette, Ark.; 27 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. | Rose, Anna Barbara (I183214)
