John was a miner. 1900 Federal census, John Eva (age 49), wife Martha (age 34) and children William J (age 18), Edward T (age 16) and Rose E (age 11) were living in Denver, Arapahoe County, Colorado. 1910 Federal census, John Eva (age 59, married) was living in Grant, Jefferson County, Colorado. He was a farmer. His wife was not enumerated with him on the census record. John Eve, 71 years of age, a farmer living on Ralston Creek, was founf dead in his home last Wednesday. Coroner Woods was called and decided that death was due to heart trouble. The man had apparently been dead for twenty-four hours. Eva came to Colorado from Cornwall, England, in 1859, and settled at Central City where he engaged in mining. For a number of years he worked in the Cripple Creek district. Deceased was a charter member of Rocky Mountain lodge, Foresters of America, and served one term as grand chief ranger of the Colorado Juisdiction. The funeral was held from Woods & Sanders chapel Sunday with interment at Arvada cemetery. Deceased is survived by his widow and two children. | Eva, John (I129222)

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday at the Peace Church in New Salem with the Reverend Joshua Eddy officiating. Burial will be in the Peace Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM Wednesday at the Buehler-Larson Funeral Home in Mandan and will continue one hour before the services at the church on Thursday. Fred Ernest Mernitz was born on November 6, 1922, north of New Salem, the son of William and Lucy (Graff) Mernitz. He attended New Salem schools and worked on the family farm until 1954. On September 12, 1954, he married Alma Schneider of Hebron. They continued farming until 1958 when they moved to Bismarck where be began working as a carpenter for Marian and Viking Homes. In 1963, he moved his family into a home he built where he lived until the time of his death. He worked for Dakota Ready and Otto Tomanek Construction. In 1970 he went to work for Jim's Ready Mix and in 1986, he became foreman for Jim's Construction. He retired in 1992. Fred loved playing his accordion and church organ for family and friends. He enjoyed working on antique tractors and motors. Driving cars that he fixed up, especially his convertibles was a great pleasure. He often took his children fishing and to auction sales. A very kind, hardworking person, he will be greatly missed by his family and friends. He is survived by his wife, Alma; two sons and daughters-in-law, Duane and Katherine and Wayne and Kim, all of Bismarck; one daughter and son-in-law, Mavis and Ron Watson of Bismarck; eight grandchildren, Marcus, Brian, Keith, Darren, Sandra, Michelle, Brandon and Tyler; one sister and brother-in-law, Lucy and Erwin Pischel of rural Hazen; and one brother, Gordon Mernitz of Hebron. Guy is survived by his wife, Agnes, nee Fuhrmann, Haines; two children, Jeff (Pam) Haines and Debbie Haines; and two grandchildren, Guy and Ryan Haines. Guy served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II and was employed for 42 years by Sears, Roebuck & Co., working in Rapid City, SD, Fargo, ND, Louisville, KY, Chicago, IL and Milwaukee, WI. Visitation Sunday 4 to 8 p.m. at Friedrich-Jones Funeral Home, 44 S. Mill St., Naperville. Additional visitation Monday 9 to 10 a.m. at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church, 815 S. Washington St., Naperville. Funeral Services will follow at 10 a.m. in the church. Interment private. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Guide Dogs of America. She was born on April 21, 1930 to Henry and Emma (Bentz) Zimbelman in Keenesburg. She graduated from Prospect Valley High School in 1948. On November 6, 1949, she married Robert N. Kern in Hudson. She worked as a rural mail carrier for the U.S.P.S. for 24 years, along with assisting Bob in his farming operation. She also drove a school bus for 5 years for the Weld County School District RE1. Dorothy was a life member and Past President of VFW Post 6011 Women’s Auxiliary. She was also a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Hudson. Dorothy loved gardening and enjoyed golfing and bowling. She was an avid sports watcher and loved attending her children and grandchildren’s sporting events. Her dog P.J. was very special to her. She was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband, Robert “Bob” Kern of Platteville; sons, Randy (Diane) Kern of LaSalle, Robert (Cheri) Kern of Greeley, and Ronald (Nancy) Kern of Gilcrest; brothers, Edward of Las Vegas, NV and Henry of Centennial; a sister, Lorene, of Alabama; grandchildren Aaron, Anthony, Andrea, Angela, Austin, Jeran, Jacob, and Jenna; and great-grandchildren, Aashtin, Andrew, Keylee, Kendree, Kamzee, Rylan, Hunter, and RyAnn. Visitation will be held 4-7 p.m. Thursday at the Macy Chapel. Funeral Service will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday at Allnutt Funeral Service~ Macy Chapel. Interment 1:00 p.m. Friday at Mizpah Cemetery. She was born Jan. 1, 1926, in Oberlin, Kan., to Fred and Grace (Sumner) Zimbelman. Mrs. Schultz moved to the Neosho area in 1955, from Kansas. She was a homemaker and owned and operated the Wildcat Drive-In for five years and Darlene's Beauty Shop for 15 years. She was a member of the Neosho First Christian Church and was active in the annual pie making fundraiser for the church. Darlene married John Jacob Schultz on June 4, 1944, in Goodland, Kan. He preceded her in death on March 4, 2008. She is survived by a son, Ron Schultz and wife, Marilyn, Joplin; a daughter, Darla Graue, Anderson; two grandchildren, Tisha Bowman and Justin Graue and wife, Julie, all of Neosho; three great-grandchildren, Carter and Lili Graue and Lindsey Bowman; and a sister, Reva Parrish, Adona, Ark. She was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Rogers; and a brother, Gary Zimbelman. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday at First Christian Church, Neosho, with Rev. Al Gritten officiating. Burial will follow in IOOF Cemetery, Neosho. Honorary pallbearers will be Everett Bussey, Bob Swift, Leroy Locke, Jerry Fullerton, Herb Redding and Bill Spiva.
