In the year 1856 she came with her aunt to Naperville, Illinois, where she resided until the death of her husband, two months ago, after which she made her home at Aurora with her daughter, Mrs. Kate Pottiger, where she died on Saturday, August 18th, after a brief illness. She was united in marriage at Naperville, January 26, 1858, with Mr. J. S. Zentmyer. To this union were born 16 children, of which 6 died in childhood, and Oliver, aged 37, passed away in 1908. Mrs. Zentmyer was a member of the First Evangelical Church at Naperville since 1859. The living children are: Frank of Chicago; Martin, of Plainfield; Henry, Mrs. Kate Pottiger, Mrs. Carrie Blank, Mrs. Laura Lawrence, and Mrs. Rebecca Keis of Aurora; Mrs. Stella Lauer and Mrs. Elizabeth Lehman of Naperville. Also 37 grandchildren survive. Funeral services were conducted at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Pottiger, in Aurora, on Monday afternoon, August 20th, the Rev. Phil. Bowen, and to this union was born one son, John Bowen, Jr. who survives her; also a daughter Mrs. Sara Shoemaker, of Columbus, Ohio, eight grand children 8 great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. She united with the U. B. church under Rev. Davis, and was a faithful attendant until her health prohibited her attendance. He was a coal truck and school bus driver and employed as a parts man and mechanic for Lashley's Tractor Sales. He was also a member of the Woodsfield Church of Christ, Woodsfield, Ohio. Surviving are his wife, Martha Kahrig Uppole, of Lewisville; a daughter, Mrs. Ben (Karen) Ackerman, of Lewisville; a son, Dennis Uppole, of Lewisville; a sister, Mrs. Linza (Viola) Stephens, of Calais, Ohio; several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, John Uppole; a sister, Emma Wheeler; an infant sister, Florence. Visitation will be in Eddy Funeral Home, Jamestown; from 1 to 9 Sunday, from 9 to 9 Monday and one hour before services in the church. He died Thursday, May 2, 1991. Mr. Lang was born Nov. 6, 1898, in Russia. In 1904 he moved to the United States with his family and they settled in the Gackle, N.D. area, where he attended school. He married Maria Miller March 3, 1921, in Streeter, N.D. They farmed in the Gackle area until 1936, when they moved to Jamestown. While living in Jamestown he worked for the Works Progress Administration and the North Dakota State Hospital. He later worked for the railroad until retiring. His wife died in 1988 and in 1989 he became a resident of the Central Dakota Village in Jamestown. He is survived by two sons, Edwin, Lincoln, Neb.; and Marvin, Novato, Calif.; three daughters, Mollie (Mrs. Clarence) Kurtz, Santa Rosa, Calif.; and Artena (Mrs. Harold) Schlaht and Elsie (Mrs. Ruben) Kreil, both Jamestown; 11 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. ------------- The Jamestown Sun, ND, 3 May 1991 The funeral for Gustave (Gust) Lang, 92, Jamestown, will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Seventh-day Adventist Church, Jamestown. Interment will be in Highland Home Cemetery. Visitation is from 1 to 9 p.m. Sunday; 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday at the Eddy Funeral Home; and one hour before services at the church. They famed in the Gackle area until 1936 when they moved to Jamestown. He worked for the WPA and the State Hospital. He later worked for the railroad and retired due to ill health. She died in 1988. They farmed near Gackle, N.D., until 1936, when they moved to Jamestown where she worked at Jamestown Restaurant and later at Parkway Cafe. She retired in 1965. The 1810 Hopewell Twp., Bedford Co., PA Fed. Census indicates that widow, Mary Foster, was living possibly with the family of one of her children. Some time between 1810 and the time that her will was written in 1828, she removed with her son, Thomas, from Pennsylvania to Highland Co., Ohio where her daughter & husband, ENOCH & MARY (FOSTER) ZINK lived, and it was here that Mary died. In her will dated November 16, 1828, she names her daughter: Sarah Cheney, MARY ZINK, Elizabeth Horton; sons: Basil Foster, Jr., John Foster, Benjamin Foster, and "Thomas...all...my lands in the State of Pennsylvania, Bedford County". The 100 acres later proved to be 106 acres. No wife of Wm. Roper waived dower rights. Died March 14, A.D. 1906, aged 87 years eight months and thirteen days. He was a member of The Moose Ridge U. B. Church and died in full triumph of the Christian faith. He was married twice; 1- Sarah A. Moose, at about the age of fifteen years. To this union were born six children, three boys and three girls, the oldest being 72 years of age. 2- Elizabeth W. Keyser, his second wife in 1847. To this union were born ten children, six boys and four girls. His second wife died about nine years ago. Mr. Nalley was the father of sixteen children, grandfather of 85 children, great grandfather of 57 children and the great-great grandfather of seven children. Two of his children preceded him. The funeral services were conducted by T.W. Bishop, leader of The Moose Ridge U.B. Church. The remains were laid to rest in The Moose Ridge Cemetery to await general resurrection.
