(1870 Census) William and brother Charles Beebe moved from Minnesota to the Edgerton area about 1883 and started farming. William was also a harness maker, which he continued after moving to Platte in 1899. The Shindler family also moved from Minnesota to the Edgerton area in the early 1800s to try farming in a new area. (1885 census) Margaret Shindler had 3 children with William. She left him and the children in the 1890's. Margaret met and married a man named Green and had a child with him. He died about 1900 and Margaret remained in Nebraska and many years later, died there. Services will be held 1:30 p.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church in Hebron, with Dittus Funeral Home, Glen Ullin, in charge of arrangements. The former Eva Sayler was born Sept. 11, 1898 in Russia, and came to the United States with her parents in 1904, to the Bluegrass area. In 1905 they moved to a farm north of New Leipzig, and following her marriage to Gottlieb P. Schneider March 14, 1916, at rural New Leipzig, the couple lived 12 miles southwest of Hebron. In 43 they moved to a farm northwest of Hebron, retiring into Hebron in 1963. He died in 1973, and she became a resident of Marian Manor Nursing Home, Glen Ullin, in June 1978. She leaves seven sons, Emil, Stanley and Roy, all of Hebron, Ruben of Manning, Clarence of Richardton. Eva was six years old when she came to this country with her mother Sophia Boehler and three younger sisters. They were taken by wagon to Odessa, where they boarded a crowded immigrant ship to come to Glen Ullin, ND. There the family was reunited with the father, Gottlieb Sayler, who had come to American several months earlier. Eva could speak some Russian and later in her life she learned how to read, write and speak English. The first year after their marriage, Gottlieb and Eva lived with the Philip Schneider family. Then they bought some land, built a house and farmed about a half mile south of where Richard Schneider's farm is presently located. Here their first four children were born. Because the farm lacked a suitable water supply, they decided to move to a different farm. This farm, had been vacated when the flu epidemic struck. While living on this farm, two more children were born. In 1922 they purchased another farm and here nine more children joined the family. Gottlieb seeded over 400 acres of wheat using horse-drawn equipment to plant and harvest. This was in addition to the feed grains and corn whichw re planted to supply feed for the cattle and horses. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. MST Monday at First Congregational United Church of Christ, Glen Ullin, with burial in Glen Ullin Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Spangelo Funeral Home, Glen Ullin, and will continue at the church one hour before services. A prayer service will begin at 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Gust was born March 27, 1902, at Johannestal, Beresan, Odessa, South Russia, to Carl and Rosina (Diede) Miller. He came to the United States with his parents in 1904. They homesteaded near Glen Ullin, where he was raised and educated. He married Martha SAYLER, Nov. 20, 1924, at Hebron. They settled on a farm southwest of Glen Ullin where they engaged in farming until 1967. They retired and moved into Glen Ullin. Martha died July 25, 1996. He enjoyed music and singing. He entered the Marian Manor Nursing Home in Glen Ullin in September 1991. He is survived by two sons, Duane and Chester, both of Glen Ullin; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one sister, Helen Metzger, Hebron. Mr. Cunneen was a retired captain from the Air Force with 20 years of service. The veteran of World War II and Korea was awarded numerous medals, including the Purple Heart with two oak leaf clusters, the Presidential Unit Citation and Combat Infantry Badge with two stars. Following his military retirement, he worked as Cleaves Division manager at Virginia Military Institute. He was also a former dietary supervisor at Portsmouth Convalescent Home and was currently employed as the parking supervisor for Scope Convention Center. Survived by his wife, Marylin O. Cunneen; a daughter, Patricia C. Stewart of Virginia Beach; two sons, Michael J. Cunneen of Williamsburg and Mathew T. Cunneen of Suffolk; and a grandson.
