Blanche M. Hartmann, 87, formerly of Bucyrus, died Thursday evening, January 5, 2012 at Doctors Hospital in Columbus.
Blanche was born September 7, 1924 near Zeeland, North Dakota, the daughter of the late Edwin A. and Linda (Ochsner) Boschee. She spent her childhood and youth in Zeeland. Following high school, she studied at the Dakota Business College and, having completed her studies, became Assistant Manager of the bank in her hometown.
She had four brothers and sisters: Stanley Boschee and Deanna Gazette survive while she was preceded in death by Virginia Hellecksen, Charles Boschee and infant brother, Edwin Delmar Boschee.
Blanche was united in marriage to Herman A. Hartmann on May 28, 1946 in Zeeland. The Hartmanns then moved to Marion, South Dakota where Herman was the pastor of Bethel Evangelical and Reformed Church. Their two sons, Mark and David, were born while they resided in Marion. They then moved to Humbird, Wisconsin where they served the Humbird-Black River Falls parish of the Evangelical and Reformed Church. Next, they moved to Baltic, Ohio where their pastorate was the Baltic Charge of the United Church of Christ. Their last parish was at St. John's United Church of Christ in Bucyrus. During that time, they were involved with a pastoral exchange in Germany for one year where they served on the staff of the Vohwinkel Parish of The Evangelical Church in Wuppertal, Germany. For 19 years, Blanche was employed in the payroll department of Swan Hose in Bucyrus.
The Hartmanns lived in retirement in Columbus where they worshipped with the North Congregational United Church of Christ.
She leaves to mourn her husband of 65 years, Herman; sons, Mark of Columbus and David and wife, Arlene, nee Missler, of Toledo along with grandchildren, Matthew and Christopher. Her granddaughter, Katie, died tragically on July 23, 2004.
She was faithful in her support to her husband, family and of her church.
A public memorial service will be held in St. John's United Church of Christ at 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 13 with Rev. Steven E. Voelker officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to the service or during the gathering to be held immediately following the service. A private burial will be held in Oakwood Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be given to St. John's UCC or North Congregational UCC through Wise Funeral Service.

David C. Bowersox, son of David F. and Matilda Bowersox, was born at Bauchman Mill, Carroll county, Md., February 25, 1845, and departed this life August 21, 1931, at the home of his son Elmer, 2305 K Street, Belleville, Kan., at the age of 86 years, 5 months and 26 days. In 1849 he moved with his parents to Adam county Ohio, and in 1854 he moved to Dark county, Ohio, where he grew to manhood. In May, 1864, he enlisted in Company B, 152nd Ohio Infantry and served until he was honorably discharged. He was united in marriage to Sarah A. Ream at Greenville, O., on October 8, 1868. To this union two children were born, Elmer E., and Stella, who died in infancy. He moved to Galesburg, Ill., in 1869, where he resided for two years. In 1871 he came to Kansas and took up a homestead four miles southwest of Belleville, where he resided until 1927, when he moved to Belleville with his son. He was one of Republic county's pioneers, and the last of the original homesteaders in Belleville township. He always took a leading part in all community activities, serving his township as trustee, and his district, as a member of the school board for a number of years. He was a charter member of the Republic County Mutual Fire Insurance company and served as its first president. He was also a charter member of the John Brown Post 44 G.A.R., and was a regular attendant as long as health permitted. He confessed his faith in Christ and united with the Methodist church in Belleville over 50 years ago and was a regular attendant until his declining years. Mr. Bowersox lead a consistent Christian life and was a lover of his home and family, always happiest when his six great-grandchildren were with him. He had been an invalid for the past two years and bore his suffering patiently. His wife preceded his departure from this earth June 12, 1900. He is survived by his son, Elmer E., and wife, three grandchildren, Mrs. Ralph Frazier, Mrs. Orpha Fry and Claud Bowersox of Belleville, Kan., and six great-grandchildren. He also leaves two brothers, John R. Bowersox of Belleville, Kan., and Joshua M. Bowersox of Palisade, Neb., and a host of other relatives and friends. The funeral services were conducted from the Central Christian Church in Belleville by the Rev. P.O. Davis Sunday, August 23, and interment was made in Belleville cemetery.

Elmer E. Bowersox, son of David and Sarah A. Bowersox, was born June 4, 1873, in Belleville township on the farm that his father homesteaded soon after the civil war and passed away in Belleville on June 2, 1958, at the age of 84 years, 11 months 26 days.
Mr. Bowersox received his education in the Belleville Center school system. He was married to Mary Etta Barnhart on September 2, 1897, and to this union three children were born; Claude, Lela and Orpha. He farmed the home place until they moved into Belleville, where he engaged in pump and windmill repair.

Married Irvin L. Brackin December 2, 1944 in Waterloo. He died June 26, 1966. She married Edward Barton in July 1974 in Nashua. He died in October, 1995.
Survived by three daughters, Patrice Dae Hudson (Greg) of Cedar Rapids, Judi Brackin (Jim Rhodenbaugh) of Waterloo, and Teresa Hertges (Bob) of Elk Run Heights; one daopted daughter, Mary Horsland of Waterloo; six grandchildren, Bryan Hudson, Jessica Dae Hudson (Tim Tolliver), Kevan Hudson, Melissa Leyen (Jon), Mary Hertges, and Samuel Rhodenbaugh; two great-grandchildren, Macauley Hudson and Mackenzie Dae Leyen; two brothers, William Bowersox (Lola) of Franklin, Tennessee, and Ted Bowersox (Phyllis) of Hudson; two sisters-in-law, Bonnie Ford (Donald) of Lake Forest, Illinois, and Myrtle Brackin of Waterloo; one brother-in-law, James Herold of Casper, Wyoming; and many nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by her parents; her two husbands; and 11 of Irvin's brothers and sisters.

Lena Fraser, daughter of Elmer and Mary Etta Bowersox was born November 25, 1899 at Belleville and died October 25, 1970.
She received her education in District 22 and graduated from the Belleville high school in 1919.
She was united in marriage to Ralph Fraser September 15, 1921. Two daughters and two sons were born. The family has always lived on the same farm in Republic county.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Survivors are: her husband; sons, Ralph Gerald and wife Pat, Ray and wife Jeannie; 2 daughters, Mary Bruchie and husband, Bill and Ruth Wilber and husband, Charles ofBelleville; 13 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; sister, Orpha Fry and brother, Claude.

Belleville (KS) Telescope - 17 Jun 1954
Mary Etta Barnhart, daughter of Josephine Branson and John Barnhart was born August 9, 1874, in Florida, Henry county, Ohio, and departed this life June 11, 1954, at her home in Belleville, Kan., at the age of 79 years, 10 months and 2 days. She came with her mother to Republic county in 1886 after the death of her father and has lived here continuously since. She received her education in the Belleville city schools.
She was married September 2, 1897 to Elmer E. Bowersox and to this union were born a son and two daughters, who together with her husband survive. They made their home on the David Bowersox homestead south of Belleville in December, 1927, where they have since resided.
Mrs. Bowersox was a member of the Belleville Christian church where she worked faithfully as long as her health permitted. She was for many years a member of the Women's Relief Corps and was a charter member of the W.W.W. club of Belleville center community. During the First World War, she worked actively in the Red Cross.
She is preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters and is survived by her husband and a son, Claude L., of the home; two daughters, Mrs. Lela Fraser and Mrs. Orphy Fry, both of Belleville; two sisters, Mrs. Cora Eberhart of Toft, Cal., and Mrs. Jennie Tate of Greeley, Colo., 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
She gave cheerfully of her time and energy whenever there was need. She enjoyed life to the fullest and was never happier than when she was contributing to the happiness and fun of others. She loved children, not only her own, but all children and they recognized her love and understanding of them. She was a devoted wife and mother, a loyal friend and a sincere Christian.
Funeral services were held June 14 at the Central Christian church with the Rev. A.G. Hollowell officiating. Burial was in Belleville cemetery.

WAYNESBORO — Roy David Welsh Bowersox, 92, of Waynesboro died Saturday, Aug. 11, 2012, at Avante of Waynesboro. Roy was born Dec. 18, 1919, the son of Roy Clifton and Margie Viola Black Bowersox.
He was united in marriage to Doris A. Hunter, Westminister, Md., on May 24, 1941. Doris was called home March 29, 2003.
Surviving are his sons and their wives and children, Roy David Wayne and Laura Bowsersox and daughter, Summer, Richard Donald Warren and Shirley Bowersox and sons, Rodney and Rennie, Roger James and Brenda Bowersox and daughter, Heather, and sons, John David and James, and Mark Hewitt, and 15 great-grandchildren.
Roy was preceded in death by his brothers and sisters, Anna Ruth Bittinger, Clifton Sterling Bowersox, Mary Zendgraft, John Wesley Bowersox, Margin Pauline Sepp and William Ben Bowersox.
Roy groomed horses for Carrlton Hounds prior to being hired in 1942 by Hopeman Brothers as a ship joiner at Sparrow Point, Maryland Shipyard. He was promoted to a top leadership position and was transferred to Waynesboro in 1955 to work as a supervisor at Wayne Manufacturing Co., retiring after 42 ½ years of service.
In 1956, he joined Second Presbyterian Church in Waynesboro. This was the beginning of a new life in God's work for him. There he served as president of the men's class, president of men's work in the Lexington Presbytery and president of men's work in the Shenandoah Presbytery. In 1958, he joined Dooms Ruritan Club, holding the office of Zone 5 governor four times, district lieutenant governor in 1987 and Woodrow Wilson District governor in 1988. He chaired the rural division of the Waynesboro-East Augusta United Community Fund 1962-64 and served on the boards of the United Community Fund and United Way. He was a member of the Gideons and for a number of years managed the News-Virginian Farm League baseball team.
A service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 14, 2012, at Second Presbyterian Church by Pastor John Hamric. Burial will follow at Augusta Memorial Park
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at McDow Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be his grandsons and family attending the service. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Ruritan club and Second Presbyterian Church.
In lieu of flowers, please make a memorial donation to Ruritan National, Dooms/Waynesboro Ruritan Club, Second Presbyterian Church or Waynesboro First Aid Crew.
The family wishes to thank Jack Higgs and Lois Benson for their special friendship through the years, his church family for their prayers and staff of Avante for all their help and care.

CASCADE, Iowa - Melvin E. Breitbach, 91, of 487 Highway 136, Cascade, died at 11:04 a.m. Monday, March 13, 2006, at Shady Rest Care Center, Cascade.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Martin's Catholic Church, Cascade, with the Rev. Daniel Krapfl officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Cascade. Friends may call after 9 a.m. Wednesday at Reiff Funeral Home, Cascade.
Mr. Breitbach worked as a farm laborer in the Cascade area.
He was born on Oct. 19, 1914, in Cascade, son of George and Anna (Takes) Breitbach.
He received his education in the former St. Martin's School, Cascade.
He was a member of St. Matthias Parish, Cascade.
Surviving are six children, Melvin J. "Bud" Breitbach, of Delhi, Judy (Galen) Harms, of Anamosa, Sonya Hess, of Dubuque, George Breitbach, of Charlotte, Mary (Lee) Hinderman, of Davenport, and Charles "Chuck" Breitbach, of Richmond, Va.; 10 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Ida Breitbach and Loretta Breitbach, both of Cascade.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Elmer and Edward Breitbach; a sister, Marie Devine; and a brother-in-law, LeRoy Devine.
A Melvin E. Breitbach memorial fund has been established.
The family would like to thank the Nursing staff at Shady Rest for the wonderful care given to Melvin.

The funeral for John E. Brockel, 82, Minot, retired section foreman of the Soo Line Railroad who died Friday in a Minot hospital was wednesday at 11 a.m. from Memorial Chapel of the First Presbyterian Church. Reverend William F. Puls officiated.
Born January 26, 1886, in Germany, came to the United States in 1900. In 1907, Mr. Brockel began working for railroads and was employed by various lines before joining the Soo about 1920.
He lived at Cathay, North Dakota, and in South Dakota, before mioving to Portal in 1920. In 1947, he retired into Minot. Was a member of the Brotherhood of Maintenance of Way and the Independent Order of Odd Fellows Lodge.
Survivors are a daughter of Dallas, Texas; three stepdaughters, and a step-son; three brothers; three sisters.
