Mrs. Leona L. Pinter, 85, of Ladd died at 1:22 p.m. Friday in Perry Memorial Hospital, Princeton, where she was a patient for four days.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday in St. John Lutheran Church-on-the-Hill, rural Princeton. The Rev. Kenneth Halstead will officiate. Entombment will be in the mausoleum at Peru City Cemetery.
Visitation will be 3-9 p.m. Sunday in the Hurst Funeral Home, Ladd, and after 10 a.m. Monday in the church.
Mrs. Pinter was born June 4, 1900, in Westfield Township. She married John H. Pinter who died Jan. 9, 1974.
She and her husband farmed.
She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church.
Mrs. Pinter is survived by one daughter, Karen of Sterling; three sons, Eugene of rural La Moille, Wilbur of Princeton and Delbert of Ladd; nine grandchildren and six great grandchildren; and one sister, Mrs. Evelyn Powell of Mendota.
Memorials may be directed to St. John's Lutheran Church-on-the-Hill.
Pallbearers will be Kenneth, Garry, Larry and Kevin Pinter, Dale Peters and John Wesson.

Elmer H. Pinter, 82, formerly of Cherry, died Monday, April 16, 1990, at Spring Valley Nursing Center, where he had resided since 1985.
Mr. Pinter was born Nov. 8, 1907, in Westfield Township to Jacob and Phillipena (Hahn) Pinter.He was a self-employed carpenter until he retired.
Services were at 2 p.m. April 18 at Hurst Funeral Home in Ladd, the Rev. Lloyd Kamps officiating. Entombment was in Peru City Mausoleum. Visitation was one hour preceding the funeral.
Surviving are one sister, Mrs. Earl (Rose) Gillan and one brother, LeRoy, both of rural Arlington, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother in infancy.

Perry G. Pinter, 78, formerly of Cherry died at 2 p.m. May 24, 1997 in St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria, where he had been a patient for four days.
Services were at 11 a.m. today in the Hurst Funeral Home, Ladd. The Rev. Barbara Yara officiated. Burial was in Valley Memorial Park.
Visitation was from 10 a.m. until the start of services Tuesday in the funeral home.
He was born Jan. 8, 1919, in Selby Township, Bureau County, to Henry and Elsie (Nickel) Pinter.
He farmed west of Cherry for many years. He was a member of the Cherry Congregational United Church of Christ.
Survivors are a sister-in-law, Eileen Pinter of Cherry; and nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Earl L. Pinter, 75, of 112 Taylor Street, Cherry, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Cherry Congregational United Church of Christ. The Rev. Julius Rechterman will officiate. Burial will be in Valley Memorial Park.
Visitation will be from 5-9 p.m. today in the Hurst Funeral Home in Ladd and after 10 a.m. Saturday in the church.
Mr. Pinter died at 5:15 a.m. Nov. 22 in St. Margaret's in Spring Valley, where he had been a patient two days following an extended illness.
Memorials may be directed to the family.
He was born in Selby Township May 29, 1914 to Henry and Elsie Nickel Pinter. He married Eileen Hahn Aug. 11, 1946, in the Zion United Church of Christ, Peru. He had served with the Army Air Force in World War II. He farmed in Bureau County, was self-employed as an electrical contractor and served as Ladd city electrician for 13 years until retiring 10 years ago. He was a member of the Cherry Congregational United Church of Christ, the Ladd American Legion, the Cherry Fire Department and the Van Orin Flying Club.
He is survived by his wife; a daughter, Mrs. Bernie (Carolyn) Moore of Dimmick; two sons, Dean and Glenn, both of Cherry; seven grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; and a brother, Perry Pinter.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, a sister, and a great-grandson.

Lonnie Lavern Ackerman, 61, of Stromsburg, Nebraska, passed away Thursday (1/21/10), at St. Francis Medical Center in Grand Island, Nebraska. Lonnie was born April 24, 1948 to Herbert and Bessie (Grigsby) Ackerman in Aurora, Neb. He enlisted in the U.S. Army and served from 1968 to 1969 with the Second Infantry Division, Honest John Rocket Battalion. Lonnie was employed by United Farmers Coop. He worked in the feed mill and drove a semi. Lonnie enjoyed driving and took pride in his relationship with his customers. He retired February 28, 2006 due to health issues.
Survivors include his wife, Juanita of Stromsburg; seven children, Jared Ackerman of Lincoln, Chris Ackerman of Cedar Rapid, Iowa, Leslie Cole of Belmond, Iowa, Dustin Ackerman of Cedar Rapid, Iowa, Evette Watts of Osceola, Joel Bittner of Loveland, Colo., and Michelle Bittner of Lincoln; nine grandchildren; mother Bessie Brahmsteadt; three sisters, Helen Barnard of Vinton, Iowa, Mary Wolfe of Center Point, Iowa, and Francis Cunningham of Sioux City, Iowa; five brothers, Virgil Ackerman of Benedict, Jerome Ackerman of York, Earl Ackerman of Guttenberg, Iowa, Herbert Jr. Ackerman of Thayer and Clarence Brahmsteadt of Waco; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services 10 a.m. Monday (1/25/10) at Salem Lutheran Church in Stromsburg with Pastor Brenda Pfeifly officiating. Visitation will be Sunday (1/24/10) from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at Dubas Funeral Home in Stromsburg. Inurnment will be held at a later date in the Stromsburg Cemetery with Military Rites by the Stromsburg Legion Post #132. Memorials are suggested to the family in lieu of flowers. Dubas Funeral Home of Stromsburg and Osceola has been entrusted with arrangements.

Three grandchildren, Richard Alan and Robin Ann Everett of Rt 2 Ferndale and Eugene Larsen of Red Lodge, Montana. Ernest Edward Laye, 81, of Bayer Drive, and formerly of Fort Loudon Road, Mercersburg, Pa., died Saturday, Nov. 16, 1996, at Washington County Hospital.
Born Oct. 24, 1915, in Washington County, he was the son of the late Leonard and Blanche V. Mills Leigh.
He was a life long carpenter working for various contractors in Franklin County, Pa., and retired from Mercersburg Academy in 1980.
He also was a minister holding tent meetings and establishing several mission churches in Pennsylvania and Maryland. He began teaching the adult Bible class for Sunday school at the age of 16 completing 65 years of teaching. He was a founding member of Emmanuel Chapel in Smithsburg.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Zelda R. Hawbaker Laye; three daughters, Dorcas L. Pine and Naomi B. Hornbaker, both of Mercersburg; Elizabeth C. Litten of Fairplay; one son, Jonathan D. Laye, pastor, of Smithsburg; one brother, Herman R. Leigh of Clear Spring; 11 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Rachel Rebecca Laye; two brothers, Milford L. Leigh and Robert Leigh; and one granddaughter.
Services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Emmanuel Chapel in Smithsburg. The Rev. Glen Hartman and the Rev. Rosalie Addlesberger Wharton will officiate. Burial will be at 4 p.m. in Fairview Cemetery in Mercersburg.
The family will receive friends at Lininger-Fries Funeral Home, 47 N. Park St., Mercersburg, Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. There will be a viewing one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday.

Darrel H. Blitzkie, age 61 of York, died Saturday, January 14, 2012 in York. Darrel was born January 18, 1950 to Homer Lee and Ann (Carlson) Blitzkie in Lynch.
On May 26, 1974, he was united in marriage to Beverly Perry in O'Neill. Darrel had worked in the maintenance department at Wal-Mart.
Darrel enjoyed dancing, working on vehicles, figure 8 racing, tractor pulls and his family.
Darrel is survived by: son, Benjamin (Melinda) Blitzkie of Geneva; daughters, Rebecca Blitzkie of Rochester, N.Y., Renee (Kevin) Martin of Lincoln and Nikki Blitzkie of Lincoln; grandchildren, Kaylee Martin of Lincoln and Landen Blitzkie of Geneva; sisters, Eileen (Arnold) Dowling of Osceola and Marilyn (Don) Schmidt of Omaha; his aunt Betty Carlson of Spencer; and cousins David Carlson of Springfield, Terry Carlson of Hastings and Leroy Blitzkie of Spencer.
Darrel was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Beverly and his sister Elaine.
Burial was in the Greenwood Cemetery, York, NE.
