120104 | www.findagrave.com: www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GRid=74502829 Betty M. Everett died peacefully at home in Ferndale, December 24, 2007 after a long illness due to ovarian cancer. She was born November 16, 1926 in Cooperstown, North Dakota to Oscar and Clara "Kay" (Haugen) Gullickson. Betty was the oldest of ten children. She grew up on the Gullickson farm, homesteaded by her great-grandparents in the 1880s. Soon after the family lost the farm during the Great Depression, Betty traveled west to Blaine, Washington in 1943, seeking work to help support the family. During World War II, she worked as a waitress, cook, telephone operator, and fish filleter. She was also a chief inspector of the rubber linings of airplane gasoline tanks for Firestone, located in the Carnation Building in Ferndale. She married Robert Everett on March 7, 1947 at the Blaine Lutheran Church. They lived on their farm in Pleasant Valley for 45 years. They raised children Richard, Cynthia Kay, Robin, and step-son Gene. After raising her children Betty returned to school, graduating from Western Washington University in 1973 with a degree in English. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Custer for 55 years and taught Sunday school and adult education courses for many years. She loved to study theology and enjoyed reading and studying complex issues. Betty was a "kitchen table counselor" and was a compassionate listener for many people, especially those in crisis situations. She provided nurturing wisdom for several of Zion Lutheran's pastors. Betty's many interests included growing beautiful roses, cooking and sewing. She loved to learn new things. Betty especially enjoyed large family reunions and spending time with all her loved ones. There were many fun-filled camping and fishing trips with husband Bob, and her sisters and their husbands. Betty was a very gracious person who was filled with gratitude for her blessings, even during difficult times. Betty is survived by husband, Robert of Ferndale; son, Richard (Rosemarie) Everett of Fall City, WA; daughter, Robin (Robert) Ogmundson of Ferndale; and step-son, Gene Larsen of Ferndale; grandchildren, Joel (Heather) Everett of Monroe, WA, Sarah Ogmundson of Bellingham and Amy Ogmundson of Ferndale, Chad Larsen and Jennifer Larsen; great-grandchildren, Taylor Grace Everett and Madison Larsen. Betty's siblings are Muriel Wampler, Delores Oberst, Hazel Jean Hobert, Ronald Gullickson, and Sharon Polson. She is survived by numerous relatives, many of whom still live in North Dakota and Minnesota. Betty was pre-deceased by daughter Cynthia Kay Everett; and siblings, Dorothy Craig, George Gullickson and Gordon Gullickson. Arranged by Moles Family Funeral Homes & Crematory | Gullickson, Betty M.
