Donald W. Schnurbusch, age 68, died on Sunday, Sept. 30, 2001, at home, after a courage battle with colon cancer. He was born on Nov. 23, 1932, in Madison the son of Walter and Ruth Schnurbusch. Don graduated from Madison East High School in 1951. Went through an electrical apprenticeship and became a journeyman electrician, until his retirement in 1995. In 1953 he was drafted in the Army; he later married Bernice M. Zimbelman on March 24, 1956. He was a proud member of his Union Local No.159. Don loved to work outdoors on his hobby farm, rising animals and various organic fruits and vegetables. But more than anything else, Don loved Jesus Christ. He loved to share God's good news. Don is survived by his wife, Bernice; his son, Earl (Deborah) of Oconomowoc; his daughters, Roxanne Schnurbusch of Cottage Grove, and Audrey Pernot of Madison; a granddaughter, Lauren Schnurbusch; a sister-in-law, Jean Schnurbusch of De Forest; nieces, other relatives and many friends. Don was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Richard Schnurbusch; and a son-in-law, Dale Pernot. Funeral services will be held at Gunderson East Funeral Home, 5203 Monona Drive, at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 6, 2001, with the Rev. Warren Keapproth presiding. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park, with military graveside honors. Friends may call at the funeral home from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 5, 2001, and from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Saturday.
