    Stanley Ray Lowery, 56, the son of Robert and Rhodabelle (Karnatz) Lowery, was born Oct 28, 1947 at Davenport. He was the oldest of five children born to his parents. He died May 11, at Thayer County Health Services Hospital in Hebron, Neb.
    He attended the Oak Grade School, Davenport Public High School and received his associate degree in applied Arts from Central Nebraska Tech, Hastings.
    He served his country in the U S Navy MCB. Three as a member of the Seabee's during the Vietnam war from Jan 7, 1969 to Nov 20, 1972. He married Rae Jeanne Legg Dec 21, 1974, at the Oak community Church.
    He owned and operated Stan's Heating and Air Conditioning, Ruskin.
    He was a member and secretary of the Ruskin volunteer Fire Department, a member of St Mark Lutheran Church and the American Legion Post, Ruskin.
    He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Alvin Lowery. He is survived by his wife, Rae Jeanne; children, Christine Anne Lowery, Chicago, and Kevin John Lowery, Hastings; mother, Rhodabelle Lowery, Deshler; two sisters, Mrs Terry Meyer (Lynda), Bertrand and Mrs Michael Stichka (Connie), Ruskin; and two brothers, Craig and Richard Lowery, both of Oak.
    Services were held on Sunday at St Mark Lutheran Church in Ruskin with Pastor Paul Albrecht and Vicar Paul Hopkins officiating.
    Interment with full military rites by Ruskin American legion Post was in the Union Valley Cemetery, Republic County, Kan.
    Ahrendts Funeral Home of Deshler, was in charge of arrangements.

    Robert Alvin Lowery, 83, der Sohn von Florence Fern (Follmer) und Ray J Lowery Sr., wurde am 7. Juni 1918 in Follmers Heimatort nördlich von Oak geboren. Er starb am 11. März im Brodstone Memorial Nuckolls County Hospital in Superior.
    Er war das älteste von 10 Kindern. Er besuchte die Pleasant Prairie Country School in Nuckolls County bis zur achten Klasse. Anschließend besuchte er die Davenport High School, die er 1936 mit der Klasse abschloss. Nach seinem Abschluss wurde er zwei Saisons lang bei Verwandten in Iowa angestellt, um bei der Herbsternte zu helfen. Anschließend war er ein Jahr lang bei Verwandten in Idaho und dann bei der Union Pacific Railroad in Wyoming beschäftigt, bis er zum Militärdienst kam.
    Er trat am 5. März 1941 in die United States Army ein. Er wurde in Florida zum Flugzeugmechaniker ausgebildet und war auf der Chanute Army Air Corp Base außerhalb von St. Louis stationiert. Er diente auch im Südpazifik. Auf dem Weg nach Japan endete der Krieg und er wurde nach Hause umgeleitet. Er erhielt die American Defense Service Medal, die American Service Medal, die Asiatic Pacific Service Medal, die WWII Victory Medal und die Good Conduct Medal. Er wurde am 5. Dezember 1945 ehrenhaft als Master Sergeant bei der 462. Jagdstaffel entlassen.
    Nach seiner Entlassung zog er in ein Haus nördlich von Davenport. Er wurde am 1. März 1947 in Belleville mit Rhodabelle Karnatz verheiratet. Aus dieser Verbindung gingen fünf Kinder hervor.
    1948 zogen Alvin und Rhodabelle auf ein Gehöft in der Nähe von Oak. 1980 zog er sich aus der Landwirtschaft zurück und trat am 14. Februar 2002 in Parkview Haven in Deshler ein.

    Rhodabelle Lowery, the daughter of William and Jessie (Cassell) Karnatz, was born on July 5, 1921 on a farm near Ong, Nebraska. She passed away on July 30, 2007 at Parkview Haven Nursing Home in Deshler, Nebraska at the age of 86 years, and 25 days.
    Rhodabelle was the second of four children. She was baptized on April 24, 1943 at the Methodist Church in Davenport, Nebraska. She attended District 30 Hammond School northwest of Davenport through part of the 8th grade and finished 8th at Valley View School which is in Thayer County and she graduated from Davenport High School in 1938 . She taught school for four years in rural schools then entered the Bonnell Beauty School in Hastings. After completing this course, she went into business for herself, operating a beauty salon in Shickley, Nebraska. She and her sister, Ruby Lonsdale, operated a small grocery store in Oak called the Oak Market for several years in the early 1980's.
    She was united in marriage to Robert (Alvin) Lowery on March 1, 1947, in Belleville, Kansas. Five children were born to this marriage. The couple farmed by Oak, Nebraska and moved into Alvin's parents' home after they passed away in Oak.
    Rhodabelle was a member of King's Daughter's of Oak, serving as president for many years. She was also a member of the Oak Community Church and was the pianist for the congregation for over forty years. Other interests included gardening and raising flowers, playing the organ and piano. Her hobbies included, crochet and was interested in crafts of all varieties. She loved spending time with all her grandchildren. A favorite pet, was the family Cocker Spaniel, named, "Blacky". Traveling to California by train, with her husband, was her most enjoyable trip.
    Rhodabelle lived in her home in Oak, prior to moving to Parkview Haven Nursing Home on March 11, 2002, where she resided until her death.
    Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Alvin on March 11, 2002; son, Stanley; and sister, Ruby Lonsdale.
    Survivors include her children, daughter, Lynda J. Meyer and husband Terry of Bertrand, Nebraska; sons, Craig R. and Richard D. both of Oak, Nebraska and daughter, Connie F. Stichka and husband Michael G. of Ruskin, Nebraska; daughter-in-law, Rae Jeanne Lowery of Lincoln, Nebraska;14 grandchildren, Christine A. Lowery, Kevin J. Lowery, Lonnie L.     Funeral services were held on Friday, August 3, 2007 at 2:00 PM from the First Community Church in Oak, Nebraska with Pastor Steve Matthews officiating. Music was "Fly To Jesus" and "How Great Thou Art", solo by Stephanie Thayer and congregational hymn, "What A Friend We Have In Jesus", with Cloma Corman as accompanist.
    Pallbearers were Lonnie Meyer, Shannon Meyer, Kevin Lowery, Jeff Lowery, Scott Lowery, Courtney Lowery, Robert Lowery, Tyson Stichka and Taylor Stichka. Honorary Pallbearers were Christine Lowery, Teraesa Siefkis, Tessa Jones, Tara Lowery and Whitney Stichka.
    Interment was in the Nelson Cemetery at Nelson, Nebraska.

    Funeral services for William John Karnatz were held at the Urbauer Funeral Home in Davenport Wednesday, July 14, with the Rev Henry Dumler officiating. The following obituary was read at the service:
    William John Karnatz, son of Fred and Mary Karnatz, was born Dec 11, 1889, at Burr Oak, Kan.., and died at the Veterans' Administration Hospital in Grand Island on July 12, 1965, at the age of 75 years, 7 months and 1 day.
    He volunteered for military service in 1918, serving his country here and overseas.
    Mr Karnatz was married to Jessie Isabelle Cassell on Aug 3, 1918. To this union was born four children, two sons and two daughters.
    He lived in the Ong and Edgar communities until 1923 when he moved with his family to a farm near Davenport and resided in that vicinity until his death. He was a member of the American Legion of Davenport and the Odd Fellows Lodge.
    Preceding him in death were his wife, parents, three brothers and one sister. He leaves to mourn his sons and daughter, Ray and Mrs Donald (Ruby) Lonsdale of Davenport, Lovelle of Ong and Mrs Alvin (Rhodabelle) Lowery of Oak; 15 grandchildren; one sister, Mrs Ray Mileger of Edgar; and other relatives and friends.
    Burial service of the church preceeded services by the American legion of Davenport. Interment was in the Edgar Cemetery.

    Fred J Karnatz was born April 25, 1865 at Thornton, Ill and departed this life April 12, 1957 at the home of his daughter Mrs Ray Mileger near Edgar, Nebr., at the age of 91 years, 11 months and 17 days.
    He was the son of John and Sophie (Sholtz) Karnatz. when a small boy the family moved to Jewell County, Kan., where his parents homesteaded on a farm.
    On October 3, 1885, Fred and Mary Karnatz were united in marriage at Guide Rock, Nebr. To this union six children were born, Dena, Willis, Albert, Louis, Herman and Ethel.
    Mr Karnatz engaged in farming in Jewel County, Kan., and in the Ong, Edgar and Deweese vicinities. They moved to Edgar in 1933.
    He was a member of the Edgar Methodist Church.
    He leaves to mourn his passing, his wife, Mary, and four children, Dena Weis or Summerfield, Kans.; Wm Karnatz of Davenport, Nebr; Herman Karnatz of Lena, Ill. and Ethel Mileger of Edgar, Nebr.; together with 15 grandchildren and 30 great grandchildren. Two of the sons Albert and Louis, preceded him in death.
    He was a kind husband a father and a good neighbor. In addition to the family members who we have named he will be missed by many other relatives and a host of friends.
    Services under the direction of the McGhie Funeral. Services were held in Edgar at 2:30 on Monday afternoon with the Rev Harry Gleim in charge.
    Mrs Harold Beck and Mrs Morley Braye sange "Ivory Palaces" and "In the Garden " with Mrs Robert Mikkelsen at the organ. The flowers were cared for by Mrs Harold Crouch and Mrs Homer Hand.
    Casket bearers were grandsons of the deceased, Robert Karnatz, Reuel Karnatz, Lovelle Karnatz, Ray Karnatz, Vincent Erickson, and Clair Karnatz. Interment was in the Edgar cemetery.

    Services were held in the Edgar Methodist Church at 2:30 Sunday, April 20, with Rev John L Lauer officiating. Mrs Harold Beck and Mrs Morely Braye sang "In the Garden" and "Ivory Palaces" accompanied by Mrs Robert Mikkelsen at the organ. Flowers were cared for by Mrs Vernon Jacobs, Mrs D A Jackson and Mrs Harold Crouch. The pall bearers all grandsons of the deceased were Robert Karnatz, Clair Karnatz, Ray Karnatz, Lovelle Karnatz, Reuel Karnatz and Alvin Lowery. Funeral arrangements were handled by J M McGhie funeral directors with burial in the Edgar cemetery.

    Sophie Karnatz, nee Schult, was born in Germany, January 20, 1835, and died January 5, 1915, aged 79 years, 11 months and 16 days.
    She came to the United States in 1868 and settled in Cook County, Illinois. From there she came to Jewell County, Kansas, in 1881, and here resided until her death.
    She was married to John Karnatz in 1854 and to this union were born six children, two of whom preceded her to the spirit world. They are Mrs Hannah Kiehl of Guide Rock, Neb., Mrs Minnie Yetter, Fred J and William Karnatz, near Burr Oak, Kansas, and Charles and Ernest who died some years ago. There are also 19 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren, besides a hot of relatives and friends to mourn her death.
    Her husband, died 22 years ago, since which time she made her home with her son, William.
    Sophie Karnatz joined the church of the Evangelical Associating in 1883 and remained a member until she went to her eternal reward.

    Frederick Karnatz died Wednesday, December 2, 1914 at the home of his son John, 6 miles north of Burr Oak as a result of apoplexy.
    The funeral was held Thursday afternoon at the Burr Oak M E Church, Rev A E Bashford, Evangelical pastor at Fair View officiating., assisted by Rev J Scherbacher of Hastings, Neb. and burial was made in Burr Oak Cemetery.
    Frederick Karnatz was born October 25, 1831, near Grimmen Pommerena Germany and was married Fredareka Schult in 1855. To this union were born seven children, two of who died in infancy. They came to Cook County, Illinois in the spring of 1871 and from there to Jewell County, Kansas in 1874 where he remained till the time of his death.
    He has made his home with John for the past 29 years.
    He leaves a brother and sister, one son and four daughters, 23 grandchildren, besides a host of relatives and friends to mourn their loss. His wife had preceded him to the better work six years ago. He was converted in the year 1875 and joined the German Methodist Church and later united with the Evangelical church on the Burr Oak Mission, where he remained a faithful member till he was called to his eternal reward.

    Frederica Mary Schult was born May 16, 1832, at Pommery, Germany, and died at the home of her son, John F Karnatz, in Walnut Township, Jewell County, Kansas, September 11, 1908, aged 76 years, 3 mo. and 25 days,
    She was married to Fred Karnatz. To this union seven children were born, two of whom went to the spirit world in infancy. She is survived by her husband and five children - one son and four daughters. They are John F Karnatz of Burr Oak; Mrs Lizzie Schultz of Guide Rock; Mrs Augusta Schultz of Red Cloud; Mrs Mary Karnatz of Edgar, Nebr. and Mrs E. E. Rath of St Francis, Kansas, all of whom except the last mentioned were with her when she passed away. She had suffered for several months with cancer of the stomach and it has been known for a long time that it was only a question of time until the end,.
    With her husband and family she came to the U S in 1871 settling first at Thornton, Cook County, Illinois, coming from there to Jewell County, Kansas. For a time they lived in Cheyenne County but returned several years ago. For the past twenty years, with her husband she has made her home with their son, John. She was converted in 1876 and joined the German M E Church remaining a member of that organizations until eight years ago, when she transferred her membership to the Evangelical Association and continued a member of that church to the time of her death.
    The funeral was held last Sunday afternoon at two o'clock at the M E Church of this place and was conducted by Rev McCoy assisted by Rev VanGunday and the body was laid away in the Burr Oak Cemetery.
