William A. Grove, 87, of 1011 Corbett St., died at the Washington County Hospital on Friday evening after a long illness.
He was born in Brunswick, the son of Mr. and Mrs. John C. Grove. He moved to Hagerstown 40 years ago and was employed by the B & O Railroad for a number of years, later worked as a stone-mason.
He is survived by sons, Oscar A. and Earl D., both of Hagerstown; daughters, Mrs. Ethel Shantz, Mrs. Estella Whitehead and Mrs. Bertha Guessford, all of Hagerstown, Mrs. Eva Holland of Williamsport, Mrs. Alice Davis of Hagerstown; 23 grandchildren and 34 great grandchildren.
Services will be held at the Rest Haven Funeral Chapel Monday at 11 a.m. The Rev. LaVerne E. Rohrbaugh will officiate; burial in Rest Haven Cemetery.
Family will receive friends at the chapel on Sunday evening from 7 to 9.
