    Lodi News – Sentinel, CA, Nov. 17, 1992 —
    Barbara Sayler, 80, of Lodi died in a local hospital Monday afternoon following a short illness.
    Born in Wishek, N.D., she came to the Lodi area in 1933. She was employed by the Stokley Van Camp Company for 20 years until her retirement in 1967.
    Mrs. Sayler is preceded in death by her husband, Reinhold Sayler, who died in August of 1981. She is also preceded in death by three brothers; Ludwig Rath, John W. Rath and Jacob Rath.
    She was a member of the Emanuel American Lutheran Church of Lodi and the Cannery Workers Union no. 601.
    Mrs. Sayler is survived by a son; Howard K. Sayler of Lodi; a daughter ; Esther Schwemmer of Fresno; three sisters; Emilia Sayler, Anna Marie Munsch, both of Sacramento; Eva Ketterling of North Dakota; two brothers; Ferdinand Rath of Sacramento; Edward Rath of North Dakota.
    Funeral services will be Thursday at 10 a.m. in the Chapel of the Glerhart & Wells Funeral Home with Pastor Robert Weishoff of the Emanuel American Lutheran Church officiating. Interment will be in Cherokee Memorial Park Cemetery.

    Howard Keith "SAM" Sayler, of Lockeford, passed away on Saturday, September 6, 2003 of injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident. A native of Lodi, aged 55 years, he was born on February 13, 1948, the son of Reinhold Sayler and Barbara Rath Sayler.
    Sam was a graduate of Lodi High School Class of 1966. After high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, and served during the Vietnam War. Following his military service, Sam worked in wholesale distribution for Frito Lay's Company and Coors Beer Company for several years, before going into business as the owner and operator of Sam's Landscaping about 25 years ago.
    Sam was a motorcycle enthusiast and avid rider. He owned two Harley Davidson bikes: a "Fat Boy" and a "Heritage Soft Tail". He just attended the Harley Davidson 100th Year Anniversary Homecoming Celebration in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, an 11-day trip through five other states. Besides motorcycling, Sam enjoyed sailing, water-skiing, snow skiing, off-road treks in jeeps and gardening. He enjoyed stopping by and checking in with his friends as part of his daily routine. He loved his beloved loving partner, Nancy the love of his life.
    Sam was a member of the Elks Lodge (BPOE) in Woodbridge, the Landscaping Association, Civitan and the Lodi Lions Club.
    Sam is survived by his 2 sons, 2 granddaughters, 1 sister and his loving partner, her 2 children and her 4 grandchildren. Also survived by a host of friends and other loving relatives.
    Friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Life Service at 3:00 P.M. on Thursday, September 11, 2003 at Lodi Funeral Home, 725 S. Fairmont Avenue in Lodi. Pastor Paul Zimmerman of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, and Brad VanderHamm, officiating. Interment will be private.
    Sam was known for his kind nature and sensitivity. He will always be remembered as a generous, fun and loving man who loved life and lived it to its fullest.
