    James Pastian was born February 18, 1966 in Canton, SD to Eugene Pastian and Alice Schroeder. He died unexpectedly of natural causes on January 19, 2014 in Sioux Falls, SD at the age of 47.
    Jim graduated from Beresford High School in 1984. He enlisted in the Army in November 1985, where he served as a patriot missile and cannon crew-member until he was honorably discharged due to his service-related disability in August of 1992 at Fort Bliss, Texas. He received numerous medals and honors in the military, including 2 good conduct medals, overseas service ribbon, air assault badge, and the National Defense service medal.
    Jim was an active member of the American Legion Post 15 where he enjoyed the company of his fellow service members. He had a passion for singing karaoke, dancing and watching the Dallas cowboys.
    Grateful for sharing his life are his daughter, Patricia D. Pastian of Parker, SD., his mother, Alice (Don) Schroeder of Sioux Falls, his brothers, Doug Pastian and Harold Pastian both of Sioux Falls, his sisters, Janice Sikkink of Sioux Falls, and Jeanne Pastian (Luis Cortes) of Baltic, his nieces and nephews, Kristina Sikkink, Justin Anderson, Ariel Pastian and Vanessa, Brianna and Nathan Cortes; as well as his aunts, uncles, cousins and friends (especially from Silver Moon).
    James was proceeded in death by his grandparents Harry and Ethel Pastian, and Lyold and Allegra McCaskey, his father Eugene D. Pastian, sister Patricia A. Pastian, brother, Mike E. Pastian and his niece Nicole M. Sikkink.
    A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, January 24, 2014 at Wass Funeral Home in Beresford, SD.
