John Durant was the husband of Elizabeth Robinson who died either in Missouri or Madison County, Indiana. They were living in Henry County, Missouri in 1860 and by 1870 he was a widow living back in Madison County, Indiana, living with his son Samuel Durant, my 3rd great Grandfather, and his wife Anna (Gee) Durant. When John got ill he went to Hocking County, Ohio to live with his eldest son William Robinson Durant, where he died.

William R. Durant died at his residence near Logan, Ohio, January 3d, 1890, aged 76 years, 1 month and 7 days. He was born in England, November 17, 1813, and was married to Elizabeth Andreas in the year 1835. There were born to them 9 children, 22 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. He leaves one brother and two sisters. His wife and two children have preceded him to the better land, leaving seven children to mourn. The deceased united with the Methodist Church in 1833, afterwards uniting with the U. B. Church in which he lived until he died. A large number of friends are left to mourn their loss, but their loss is his gain. Thus our neighbors and friends are taken by death, one by one. The old home of this aged brother is now broken up. Father and mother Durant are both dead. This venerable christian will be missed by many, but more by his chilren. They are now done hearing oral counsel from the lips of father, and may it not be that this sad bereavement may have a tendency to deeply rivet on their minds a, father's counsel? The funeral sermon was preached by Rev. N. Lohr, assisted by Rev. Bell, at Morris Chapel, January 5, 1890.

Elizabeth A. Durant, daughter of William R. and Elizabeth S. Durant, was born in Hocking county, near Logan, Ohio, September 25, 1840, and departed this life April 8, 1926, aged 85 years, 6 months and 13 days.
She was a member of a family of 9 children, all of whom preceded her in death, except Mrs. Mary Morton of Canal Winchester, and Willia Durant of Logan, Ohio.
She was united in marriage with J. W. Bowen, and to this union was born one son, John Bowen, Jr. who survives her; also a daughter Mrs. Sara Shoemaker, of Columbus, Ohio, eight grand children 8 great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.
She united with the U. B. church under Rev. Davis, and was a faithful attendant until her health prohibited her attendance.
She was a charter member of Griffith Rebekah lodge and remained a member until death.
