Esther Marie Schinke, daughter of Henry and Katrina(Kessel), Schimke was born on Dec. 25, 1919 at Wirch, ND, where she grew up and attended country school. Esther was baptized Oct. 25, 1920, and confirmed on June 16, 1934 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Ashley,ND. She was united in marriage to Edwin Frigen on June 21, 1939 at ST. Paul's Lutheran Church in Monango,ND. Esther and Edwin made their home and farmed in the Monango area until 1966, when they retired from farming and moved to Oakes,ND. Esther work in dietary at the Oakes Community Hospital for 26 years. Edwin died on June 7, 1999. Esther continued to make her home in Oakes, and became a resident of the Good Samaritan Society on June 19, 2009. Esther hobbies were sewing and gardening. She loved tending to her flowers, especially her beautiful roses. She was a member of ST. John's Lutheran Church. Esther passed away on Friday, July 24, 2009 at the Good Samaritan Society, under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley. She is survived by a son, Larry(Jean) Frigen, Oakes,ND.; four grandchildren, Nikki Frigen, Lori(Tim)Salberg, Lona McCoy, and Lynette Robinson; and seven great-grandchildren. Esther is also survived by a special friends, Terri, Tony, Kenny and Paul Kelsen and Jennifer, Amy & Kristi Olson and Gene & Stephanie Wiek. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin,a son Virgil who died in 1990 and a brother, Simon. Funeral will be held on Monday,July 27, 2009 at 1:30p.m. with Rev. Patrick O'Brien officiating. Visitation will be Sunday from 2:00 to 4:00p.m. at Dahlstrom Funeral Home, Okes,ND. Burial will be in Oakes View Cemetery.
