It is with great sadness that we report the passing of our mother - Pat Brungardt - on February 2, 2010, after a long and courageous battle with amyloidosis and MDS.
She was born Feb. 4, 1939, to Joe and Sally Dinkel in Victoria, Kansas. She married Delbert G. Brungardt on June 6, 1957 in Hays, Kansas. They were long time residents of Windsor, Colorado. Delbert preceded Pat in death in August of 2000.
Pat was a woman of faith, strength, patience, courage, humor, acceptance and kindness. She had an abundance of all of these and if you looked up the meaning of these in the dictionary - you might just see her name buried in the definition.
She spent most of her life as a day-care provider and many children she cared for then brought their own kids back to her for their daycare needs. Her life would seem too short to many, but those who were touched by her understood the quality of existence far exceeds the quantity of time in which one lives. She loved her family, especially her grandchildren.
Her interests included playing cards, reading, watching sporting events and lunching with friends. She leaves a lasting legacy of love, strength and support for her family, and she will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
The family sincerely appreciates the services extended by the Oncology 3rd floor nurses at Poudre Valley Hospital, Dr. Scott and the Cancer Center of the Rockies, Pathways Hospice in Loveland, Fort Collins Dialysis Clinic, and the Infusion Center at Poudre Valley Hospital.
She is survived by three sons: Dale (Carol), of Loveland, Kevin (Beth), of Tuscon, AZ, and Matt (Wanda), of Windsor; three daughters, Glenda, of Fort Collins, Sally (Dennis), of Windsor, and Brenda (fiancé Brad), of Parker, CO; five sisters: Lily Meier, of Hays, KS, Dolores Trembly, of Wakeeny, KS, MaryAnn Doefler, of Hays, Joanne Steinert, of Munjor, KS, and Darlene Pfannenstiel, of Shawnee Mission, KS; one brother, Kenneth Dinkel, of Lakewood; and five grandchildren, Derek and Dustin Sielbach, of Windsor, Collin and Kohl Brungardt, of Windsor, and Gus Brungardt, of Tucson.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Delbert; and parents, Joe and Sally Dinkel.
Rosary will be held 7 p.m. Sunday, February 7, 2010 and Memorial Service 1 p.m. Monday, February 8, 2010, both at Our Lady of Valley Catholic Church in Windsor. Inurnment will be at Lakeview Cemetery in Windsor, Colo.
