World War II and Korean War Veteran.
Gene was in the army signal corps serving as a message center chief in the european theater of operations with the headquarters battery, 401st field artillery battalion. He worked under direct supervision of corps G-2 encoding and decoding classified messages originating from corps G-2 and the german high command. He was on the first wave at Omaha Beach red on D-DAY and landed at 7 am. He continued on to the liberation of Paris and on into Germany. He was honorably discharged from the army in 1946.
Equally a University of Georgia and Georgia Tech fan unless they were playing each other, then it was Bulldogs all the way. A loyal Braves fan from the beginning; he was gone before the good years arrived. There was a tender heart beneath the gruff exterior and he was loved and he is missed.

Thomas heiratete Becker, Florence geschätzt 1948.
