Anna Maria Hummel was the daughter of Christian Hummel (1747-1800) and Maria Christiana (last name unknown) (???-1801), who both died in Stokes (now Forsyth) County, North Carolina.
Anna married Jacob Reed (1773-1843) on 03 Apr 1800 at Stokes (now Forsyth) County, North Carolina. The family moved to the Moravian community at Hope, Bartholomew County, Indiana with some of their children in 1833.
Anna and Jacob were the parents of nine known children, namely:

The family resided in North Carolina until 1848, when they moved to Bartholomew County Indiana. In 1856 they moved to Iowa, and homesteaded in Davis County. During the Civil War, Samuel served as a 1st Sergeant in Company I, 3rd Iowa Cavalry and later was promoted to Brevet Lieutenant. He then was promoted to Captain of the 2nd Regiment Arkansas Volunteers of African Descent.

William married Emma Stoughton on July 24, 1898 in Shelby Co., IN.
OBIT:
William A. Oltman, 82, resident of Marion Township, died at Major Hospital at 1:15 this morning following an illness of six months.
Born near Hope, March 31, 1873, Mr. Oltman, a farmer, had spent most of his life in Shelby County. His parents were Dirk and Susan (Reed) Oltman. He was a member of the Haw Patch Baptist Church near Clifford.
In 1898 he was married to Emma Stoughton whose death occurred in 1933. He is survived by four children. Mrs. Bertha Hughes and Robert S. Oltman of this city, Mrs. Bessie Stoughton, Greenfield, and Mrs. Mary Bennett of Marion Township. Also surviving are three brothers, George E. Oltman of this city, John H. Oltman, Jackson Township and Harvey Oltman, Vero Beach, Florida. There are 10 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
Funeral services, in charge of the Ewing Mortuary, will be held at 2: 00 p.m. Monday at the Blue River Separate Baptist Church near Marietta. Burial will be in the Conover Cemetery. Friends may call at the mortuary afternoon Sunday.

Chester B. Reed of Hope, seit 37 Jahren Küster auf dem Hope Moravian Cemetery, starb am Donnerstag um 15:30 Uhr unerwartet in seinem Haus. Er war 82.
Herr Reed wurde am 21. Dezember 1882 in Bartholomew County als Sohn von Benjamin und Rachel Drake Reed geboren. Er und seine Frau, die ehemalige Edith Schaefer, heirateten am 24. August 1913 und feierten 1963 ihre Goldene Hochzeit.
Als aktives Mitglied der Hope Moravian Church unterrichtete er dort 40 Jahre lang eine Sonntagsschulklasse und diente 30 Jahre lang als Ältester.
Mit der Frau überleben zwei Töchter, Frau Reba Titus und Frau Lola Herndon of Hope; sieben Enkel und sieben Urenkel. Die Reeds zogen auch zwei Nichten groß, Mrs. Louise Herron of Hope und Mrs. Rachel Ross of Greensburg. Eine Tochter, Adah Jean, starb am 21. April 1915.
Der Trauergottesdienst wird am Sonntag um 14:00 Uhr in der Hope Moravian Church von Rev. Charles Eichman abgehalten. Die Beerdigung erfolgt auf dem Mährischen Friedhof. Personen können das Norman Funeral Home at Hope von Samstagmittag bis Sonntag, 11 Uhr, besuchen, wenn der Sarg in die Kirche gebracht wird.
