Information from Fred Rivinius & McLean County, ND Heritage Book Pg 686 Jacob came to the US in 1902 with his parents and siblings and grew up in the Garrison, ND area. Jacob and Sophia homesteaded in McGinnis Township of McLean County. Three children passed away in infancy, one in Russia and two in America. Fred Rivinius and McLean County Book give birth record for Jacob as Dec 5 1867.
The descendants of Jacob Sayler and Sophia Klundt are found on page 149 thru 154 of the book by Velva Walden called " History and Descendants of Gottlieb Diede - 1979".
Jacob Sayler and his wife Sophie are found in the 1910 McLean County, ND Census records along with children Sophie age 11, Jacob Jr age 7, Gustoff age 4 and Bertha age 1.

Sophia S SAYLER born 7 February 1899 in Johannestal, Beresan, Odessa, South Russia was the daughter of Jacob SAYLER Sr. and Sophia KLUNDT.
Sophia at the age of 3 with her parents and her sister Katharina, sailed from the port of Bremen, Germany on the 3rd of June 1902 and arrived at Ellis Island, New York aboard the SS "Kaiser Wilhelm der Grosse" on the 9th of Jun 1902.
Sophia married William Johann RIVINIUS on the 16th of October 1919 in Coleharbor, McLean County, North Dakota. This union was blessed with 9 children, 4 of those were adopted -

Information from Fred Rivinius & McLean County, ND Heritage Book Pg 684 Sophia immigrated to the USA in 1902 with her family, first coming to Scotland, SD and then settling on a farm seven miles NW of Garrison, ND where she grew to womanhood. After her marriage to William Rivinius, they settled on a farm approximately 5 miles east of Coleharbor and farmed in that vicinity for several years. In 1926, Sophia, Her husband and and four small children and set out for South Dakota not far from the Moreau River. Their new home was 10 miles west at Ridgeview, SD. They continued to farm there for 34 years until 1960 when they retired and moved into Mobridge where they had a "winter home".

Information from McLean County ND Heritage Book pg 689. Jake was the oldest son and after the death of his father in 1921, he took over the farming operation along with his brother Gustav. After his marriage they continued to live on the family homestead. During the 1930's, the Sayler Bros leased the Ed Rupp coal Mine for two years and later another mine called the Minter Bros Mine. They operated the mine for five to six years and employed approximately fifty men throughout their career. During this time, they also expanded their cattle operation. In 1948 Jake and Myrtle bought a home in Garrison but continued to farm until their death.
