Linda Mae Broeckel was born Sept. 14, 1945, in Bismarck, to Samuel and Ida (Heinle) Broeckel. She attended Bismarck Public Schools and graduated in 1961.
In 1965, she moved to Minot to manage the Capri Restaurant. She began her career in health care in 1970, and continued until a cancer diagnosis forced her to retire in 2008. She loved her job and had a special devotion to her patients and their families. She made many sacrifices to make sure that her immediate and extended families never went without.
Linda was active in First Presbyterian Church, where she was a life-long member, joining in 1957. She served as a Sunday school teacher, an usher and was a member of the ladies group. She was always actives in her children's lives, including scouts where she served as scout leader, attending school events, sports and band. Linda was a devoted mother and grandmother. Family was the most important thing in her life. She was especially proud when her granddaughters, Kendall and Erika, were born.
She loved family gatherings and enjoyed baking and cooking for friends and family. She always had the coffee pot on and enjoyed visiting with everyone. No one was a stranger at her house. When you came to visit, you never left without having a pleasant conversation and something to eat. She was very giving, kind and compassionate to all who knew her. She will be deeply missed.
Those who shared in her life include her daughter, Donna Mindt, Minot; her sons, Dale (Shannon) Mindt, Eden Prairie, Minn., and Donald Mindt, Minot; two grandchildren, Kendall and Erika Mindt, Eden Prairie; her sister, LaVonne Broeckel, Mandan; her brothers, Morris (Darlene) Broeckel, Bismarck, and Milton (Carlotta) Broeckel, Lincoln; and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. A special thanks to Janet Kinney of Minot for being a devoted friend and caregiver.
Linda was preceded in death by her parents, Samuel and Ida Broeckel; her paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Karl Broeckel, her maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Adam Heinle; and two sisters who died in infancy.
Memorials are preferred to First Presbyterian Church, 1000 3rd St. NE, Minot, ND 58703.
