    Geboren als Johann Friedrich Lang in Kassel, Glückstahl, Südrussland als Sohn von Johann und Anna (Reich) Lang. Er wurde am 25. November 1834 in Kassel getauft. Am 14. April 1858 heiratete Friedrich Dorothea Schatz. Laut der Kasseler Volkszählung von 1858 lebten Friedrich und seine Frau im Haus seiner Eltern mit der Familie seines älteren Bruders Valentin (31 Jahre), seiner Schwester Katharina (20 Jahre) und den jüngeren Brüdern Johann Philip (14 Jahre), Jakob (12 Jahre) und Gottlieb ( 10 Jahre). Laut der US-Volkszählung von 1900 waren Friedrich und Dorothea Eltern von 12 Kindern – sechs davon lebten im Jahr 1900. Ihre Kinder lauten aus US-amerikanischen und russischen Aufzeichnungen (z. B. Glueckstal Births and Marriages, 1833-1900 von H. Ehrman) wie folgt : Jakob (1859 - ), Katherine (siehe unten), Friedrich I. Seine Tochter Katherine kam mit ihrem Mann in die USA 1890 und Sohn Johann kamen später im Jahr 1901. Er wurde am 8. Oktober 1900 im McLean County eingebürgert.     The funeral for Gustave Lang, 92, Jamestown, N.D., will be at 10:30 Tuesday in the Seventh-day Adventist Church, Jamestown. Visitation will be in Eddy Funeral Home, Jamestown; from 1 to 9 Sunday, from 9 to 9 Monday and one hour before services in the church. He died Thursday, May 2, 1991.
    Mr. Lang was born Nov. 6, 1898, in Russia. In 1904 he moved to the United States with his family and they settled in the Gackle, N.D. area, where he attended school. He married Maria Miller March 3, 1921, in Streeter, N.D. They farmed in the Gackle area until 1936, when they moved to Jamestown. While living in Jamestown he worked for the Works Progress Administration and the North Dakota State Hospital. He later worked for the railroad until retiring. His wife died in 1988 and in 1989 he became a resident of the Central Dakota Village in Jamestown.
    He is survived by two sons, Edwin, Lincoln, Neb.; and Marvin, Novato, Calif.; three daughters, Mollie (Mrs. Clarence) Kurtz, Santa Rosa, Calif.; and Artena (Mrs. Harold) Schlaht and Elsie (Mrs. Ruben) Kreil, both Jamestown; 11 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

    The funeral for Gustave (Gust) Lang, 92, Jamestown, will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Seventh-day Adventist Church, Jamestown. Interment will be in Highland Home Cemetery. Visitation is from 1 to 9 p.m. Sunday; 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday at the Eddy Funeral Home; and one hour before services at the church. He died Thursday, May 2, 1991.
    Mr. Lang was born Nov. 6, 1898, in South Russia, the son of Frederick and Christina (Wahl) Lang. At the age of 6 he came to the United States with his parents and settled near Gackle. He received his education in the rural Gackle schools. He married Maria Miller on March 3, 1921, at Streeter. They famed in the Gackle area until 1936 when they moved to Jamestown. He worked for the WPA and the State Hospital. He later worked for the railroad and retired due to ill health. She died in 1988. In 1989 he moved to the Central Dakota Village. He was a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church.
    Survivors include three daughters, Mollie Kurtz, Santa, Calif.; Artena Schlaht, and Elsie Kreil, both Jamestown; one son, Edwin, Lincoln, Neb.; one adopted son, Marvin, Novato, Calif.; 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren.

    Marvin Lang, 75, Jamestown, died Friday, Sept. 3, 1999, at his home.
    Mr. Lang was born Dec. 18, 1923, at the family farm home south of Cleveland, N.D., the son of Fred and Emma (Haas) Lang. He attended the local rural school where he received his elementary education and grew to manhood in the vicinity. He later attended North Dakota State School of Science, Wahpeton. He married Olga Flemmer Oct. 21, 1952, near Streeter, N.D. They lived on a farm 10 miles northeast of Gackle, where they farmed four years until buying a farm 10 miles southwest of Streeter. They farmed there until 1995 when they moved into Jamestown. Shortly after he was diagnosed with cancer. He attended the Seventh-day Adventist Church, Jamestown. He enjoyed collecting toy tractors and going to toy shows and museums in the area.
    He is survived by his wife; two sons, Darvin (Elaine), West Fargo, N.D., and Darrell (Carlene), Canon City, Colo.; a daughter, Donna (Ken) Roth, Denver, Colo.; a twin brother, Elroy (Maxine), Jamestown; and three grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Clarence.
    Services: 1 p.m. Monday, Sept. 5, Seventh-day Adventist Church, Jamestown, with the Rev. Dennis Kaiser officiating and the Rev. Marty Thurber assisting. Arrangements by Haut Funeral Homes, Jamestown.
    Burial: Sunset Memorial Gardens, Jamestown.
