Today I have to begin with a death report. It pleased the master over life and death to call home to call home our uncle Heinrich Huether in Beulah, ND. My brother and I received the news about his passing via telegraph on 16 February. On 20 February we were on our way with my brother’s new Ford V8, to attend his funeral on 21 February. We drove via Holliday to Zap to see my friend Ursul Hoffmann, who lives 8 miles from the city on a farm. I talked to him by telephone and then we headed toward Beulah. There we met Christ Huether and his son Eduard from Canate, SD.
The deceased had suffered from asthma for years and lately contracted a heart ailment. He was born in Peterstal, South Russia. His parents were Georg Huether and wife Margarethe geb. Humansen. He served four years and 8 months in the Russian military and after he was released, he married Katharina Human in Peterstal. In 1906 they came to Bridgewater, SD, from where he move to North Dakota 3 years later to settle on a homestead 2 miles from Beulah. In 1922, his first wife died and he married widow Elisabeth Grenz. Pastor Wilhelm Brescher of Hazen performed the mourning service in English, and Pastor Salomo Greinich of Hebron, both of the Ev. Church, performed in German. The first spoke about Corinth chapter 5, V 13 to 19 and the second about Hebrew chapter 11, V 6. The Evangelic Church could not hold all attendees, therefore the funeral services were held at the Baptist church.
From his first marriage he leaves the following children: Mrs. Jakob Oster in Beulah and Mrs. Emil Rinke. From second marriage: Mrs. Albert Braschau in Alberta, Canada and two daughters at home. The junior class of the high school laid a beautiful bouquet of flowers on the casket. May the deceased uncle rest in peace and we give our condolences to the bereaved.
