Laura J. Hawbaker, 84, of 13851 Sunrise Drive, Hagerstown, died Saturday, Aug. 15, 1998, at Morning Glory Retirement Home, State Line, Pa.
Born July 1, 1914, in Pinola, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Howard E. and Florence Crusey Johnston.
She was a homemaker.
She was a member of Maugansville Bible Brethren Church in Maugansville, and taught Junior Sunday School classes in various other churches over the years.
She is survived by:
her husband, the Rev. Paul G. Hawbaker, whom she married Aug. 30, 1940;
two daughters, Delores Kuhn of Westminster, Md., and Linda Healan of West Hartford, Conn.;
two sons, Ronald Hawbaker of Boonsboro, and Paul E. Hawbaker of State Line;
a sister, Betty Perry of Mainsville, Pa.; 12 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two brothers.
Services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Maugansville Bible Brethren Church, 17904 Binkley Ave., Maugansville. The Rev. John Hoffman will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park, Hagerstown.
The family will receive friends at Harold M. Zimmerman and Son Funeral Home, 45 S. Carlisle St., Greencastle, Pa., today from 7 to 9 p.m., and at the church one hour prior to services Tuesday.

RONALD HAWBAKER, 73, of Boonsboro, Md., passed away on Saturday, Dec. 24, 2016, at Meritus Medical Center near Hagerstown. He was the loving husband of Bonnie Hawbaker, whom he married May 16, 1964. Born on July 29, 1943, in Chambersburg, Pa., he was the son of the late Paul G. and Laura (Johnston) Hawbaker.
He was a graduate of Boonsboro High School, Class of 1962. Ronnie was a hard-working career electrician, employed by Shifler Electric in the 1960s, Ellsworth Electric in the 1970s, and had a 28-year career at Mack Trucks, retiring in 2007. Ronnie attended Boonsboro Bible Church. He was a devoted family man, and had a love for automobiles, hot rods and drag racing.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Bonnie J. Hawbaker; son, Dwayne Hawbaker; daughter, Andrea Turner; six grandchildren; and sisters, Delores Kuhn, and Linda Healan; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at Bast-Stauffer Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Boonsboro Cemetery.
