Vern Gillan, 63, of Normal passed away at 7:20 p.m. Friday (Feb. 13, 2015) at Heartland Health Care Center in Normal, surrounded by his wife and two sons.
Vern was born May 20, 1951 in Spring Valley, the son of Earl and Rose Pinter Gillan. He married Debra McNally on July 14, 1979 in Cherry. She survives.
He is also survived by two sons, Aaron and Brian Gillan; two brothers, Wesley and Roger Gillan and two sisters, Elaine Shevokas and Marge Corrigan.
He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant brother.
Vern graduated from Hall High School in Spring Valley and Illinois Valley Community College, Oglesby. He retired from Caterpillar in 2007 as a senior system analyst.
Vern was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Bloomington.
