Annabelle F. Remboldt, 90, of Mesa, AZ, died February 2, 2008 at Banner Baywood Heart Hospital in Mesa.
Annabelle was born November, 26 1917, in Wilkes Barre, PA, the youngest of four children of Guy B. and Maude V. King Flyte. She graduated from Pottstown High School, Pottstown, PA. Her plans to be a nurse were interrupted when asked to join the Harvey Wilson Orchestra as a vocalist and whistler. She toured with the orchestra throughout the east coast for four years.
As World War II began, her desire to assist in the war effort led her to Riverside, CA, where she worked at Camp Hahn and attended Riverside Community College. When the U.S. Treasury Department's War Bond Show began, she was a featured soloist, singing with a 32 piece Army Band that traveled extensively throughout the southwest entertaining troops. It was at Camp Hahn, CA where Annabelle met the love of her life, Reuben (Budge) Remboldt. They married in Las Vegas, NV in 1946 and settled in his hometown, Gackle, ND.
She was active in the management of the family business, Remboldt's Clothing Inc, and her civic activities are worthy of mention. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, served on the Park Board, City Planning Commission and was past president of the local library.
In 1980, she and Budge moved to Fountain of the Sun in Mesa, AZ, where she worked at Goldwater's Department Store. After her husband died, she moved to The Citadel where she was constantly on-the-go attending concerts, playing bridge and traveling. She also volunteered at the East Mesa Public Library and, until her death, at Banner Baywood Heart Hospital.
A life-long Episcopalian, she was a member of Grace Episcopal in Jamestown, ND, Transfiguration Episcopal in Mesa and St. Margaret's Episcopal in Palm Desert, CA. She was also a proud member of the Mayflower Society and descendant of President Franklin Pierce.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Reuben, her parents, two sisters and a brother. She will be greatly missed by: her daughter and son-in-law, Bonnie and Joseph Marosy of Rockville, MD; her son and daughter-in-law, Hank and Cherry Remboldt of Rancho Mirage, CA; her granddaughters, Maggie Remboldt of Los Angeles, CA, MiaBeth (husband Steve) and great granddaughter, Annabeth Grace Hohman of Bel Air, MD. In addition, she leaves a sister-in law, Lillian Mueller of Gackle, several nieces, nephews and two godchildren.
A memorial service is scheduled for 2:00 PM on Sunday, February 17, 2008 at Church of the Transfiguration in Mesa. A service of Holy Eucharist and Consecration of the Ashes will be held on Friday, February 22, 2008 at 2:00 PM at St. Margaret's Episcopal, in Palm Desert, CA. Inurnment of the cremains will be in the columbarium on the grounds of St. Margaret's.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to Banner Baywood Heart Hospital Foundation in Mesa, AZ.
