Lydia Reich was born Jan. 17, 1906, at the family farm home northeast of Ashley, N.D., the daughter of Gottlieb and Katherina (Kussmaul) Reich. She attended the local rural school and grew up in the vicinity. She married John Pritzkau Dec. 19, 1925, at Napoleon, N.D. They lived on a farm 10 miles east of Napoleon. In 1954 they moved into Napoleon. She worked at Irene's Cafe. He died in 1956. She worked at Wurl's Cafe until 1962. She moved to Gackle, N.D., where she worked at LaVonne's Cafe until retiring. In 1994 she moved in with her children. In March 2001 she entered Good Samaritan Center, Arthur. She was a member of Grace Baptist Church, Gackle, and Baptist Ladies Aid.
She is survived by four sons, Julius (Gwen), Riverton, Utah, Clifton (Louisa
Mae), Tooele, Utah, Richard (Mavis), Bakersfield, Calif., and James (Linda), Sidney, Mont.; two daughters, LaVerne (Jim) Calverley, Farmington, Minn., and Donna (Jack) Turner, Hunter, N.D.; 23 grandchildren; and many great-Grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, three sons, a daughter, two brothers and eight sisters.
Services: 11 a.m. Friday, [Feb 8, 2002] Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Gackle, with the Rev. Roger Monson officiating.
Visitation: 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Haut Funeral Homes, Gackle. Burial: Napoleon Cemetery, Napoleon.
