Eileen Elnora Kruse, 86, of Grand Island died Thursday, Dec. 9, 2010, at the Grand Island Veterans Home. Eileen was born Nov. 16, 1924, at Shelton, to Henry and Martha (Ahrens) Poehler.
Eileen was united in marriage to Reinhardt (Randy) William Kruse on June 10, 1945.
Survivors are:husband, Randy; sons and daughters-in-law, Virgil and Debbie Kruse, Dennis and Linda Kruse and Ron and Anne Kruse, all of Grand Island; brother and sister-in-law, Gerald and Pat Poehler of Shelton; sister, Lucille Woodring of Escondido, Calif; grandchildren and their spouses, Kevin and Lindsay Kruse of Lincoln, Melissa and Matthew Peoples of Tempe, Ariz., Lori Kruse of Portland, Ore., Denise and Marcus Hilbers of Avenhorn, Netherlands, Matthew Kruse and his fiance, Mandy, of Los Angeles, Tom and Gayle Kruse of Lincoln and Mandi and Ryan Crick of Bellevue; and eight great-grandchildren, brother-in-law, Walter Kruse; and sisters-in-law, Erna Pohlman, Christina Kruse and Louise Kruse.
Eileen was raised in and attended school in Shelton. She also was a rural school teacher in Shelton for a short time. Eileen was a full-time mother along with being a full-time secretary and bookkeeper for Kruse Electric from 1946 until her retirement in 1976.
Eileen was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Grand Island. She was a den mother for the Cub Scouts and active in the Jolly Jills extension club. She enjoyed making crafts, especially ceramics, and fishing with her husband.
Eileen was preceded in death by parents and stepmother, Freida (Ahrens) Poehler.
